Being or getting pregnant isn't easy. but it takes one whole hearted human to become a good parent

Support is crucial after having a baby or losing a baby or you have lost the pregnancy.

As soon as you have a positive pregnancy test, it is important to see your midwife or obstetrician . We can do additional tests to confirm the pregnancy and we can start prenatal care appointments to insure the health of your baby. There are certain tests that we may order, such as blood tests, ultrasounds, and fetal testing. Prenatal appointments also give your midwife opportunity to be able to determine or confirm how far along you are in pregnancy (also known as gestational age) and establish a due date (also known as expected date of delivery).

Not all medicines are safe for pregnant women, so we will want to discuss what medications you are on right from the beginning to plan for all stages of your pregnancy and birth.

What is a home birth?
A planned home birth means you’ll give birth at home instead of a hospital or birthing center. You’ll still need the assistance of someone experienced and qualified during labor and delivery.

Be aware that even with a planned home birth, your doctor or midwife may recommend that you be moved to a hospital if there's an emergency.

With a home birth, you also have the freedom to choose your own labor positions and other elements of the birthing process. These include whether or not you eat or drink, take warm showers or baths, use candles or aromatherapy, etc.

What Does Your Midwife Do?
Midwife provide care before, during and after your pregnancy.

Your midwife will:
1) Provide family planning and preconception care
2)Do prenatal exams and order tests
3)Watch your physical and psychological health
4)Help you make your birth plans
5)Advise you about diet, exercise, meds, and staying healthy
6)Educate and counsel you about pregnancy, childbirth, and newborn care
7)Give you emotional and practical support during labor
8)Admit and discharge you from the hospital
9)Deliver your babies
10)Make referrals to doctors when needed

A midwife is a trained health professional who helps healthy women during labor, delivery, and after the birth of their babies. Midwives may deliver babies at birthing centers or at home, but most can also deliver babies at a hospital.
Women who choose midwives usually want very little medical intervention and have had no complications during their pregnancy.
