Happy Teachers Day 2024 to all teachers. I consider myself a teacher, as you can see. Here I am with postgraduate doctors, Drs Salmon and Lewis, on their final day of a 40-hour course in dermatology with me. This is part of their postgraduate DM course provided by the University of the West Indies. They are learning about how to apply compression bandages to persons with leg ulcers and poor circulation.
They gave me a lovely thank you card at the end of their course.

Teaching is among the things I love to do. It is so important to pass on knowledge to others and to share from our experience.

At Skinnz Dermatology, we take care of all types of wounds and leg ulcers.We offer dressings in the office as well as we teach you or your caregiver/ family member to do your dressings effectively at home.

My love for caring for leg ulcers came about because my maternal grandmother was a diabetic and eventually had both lower limbs amputated above the knees. She never made it home from . At that time, I was still a young girl in high school. When I became a dermatologist, I developed a passion for treating leg ulcers. I am grateful to have healed so many ulcers over the years.

Dr Dale, UWI postgraduate DM Doctor, spent the dayat Skinnz Dermatology Mandeville office today upgrading his skills in dermatology. Here, he examines a little girl who came in with Tinea Capitis (ringworm of the scalp).

Dr. Burrell tutors post graduate doctors from the University of the West Indies who are enrolled in the DM Family Medicine programme.These are doctors who specialize in family medicine.

While in San Diego, I had a chance to chat with Dr Susan Taylor, the president elect of the American Academy of Dermatology. Myself and Dr. Arusha Campbell Chambers. We had a very enjoyable conference and learned so much. I am returning now to serve my patients better with the new therapies available.

Only one week on therapy, and her facial eczema cleared. She had an irritant contact dermatitis to products she had been using to treat her acne.She returned today to get treatment for her acne.

Varicose veins are abnormal veins that cause pain, tiredness in the legs, swelling, stasis eczema, and eventually leg ulcers.They occur after persons have had deep vein thrombosis which damages the one way valves in the legs.This allows blood to flow from the deep veins ,where the pressure is high to the superficial system where the pressure is lower. This results in dilation and bulging of the veins.

The 32nd Caribbean Dermatology Conference kicked off today in Suriname. What a journey to get there Kingston to St Maarten to Barbados to Trinidad then finally to Paramaribo, Suriname.
Sipped a glass of Moscato on the way. Learned a lot today. Many interesting cases were presented and we topped off the day with an excellent welcome reception party.

This patient came in with this large lesion called a pyogenic granuloma.He had the lesion removed previously in the USA. lesion recurred, and he came home to see us at Skinnz Dermatology.
