International Community School (Amman, Jordan)
Where every child can thrive. An International Community School with over 60 nationalities in Amman, Jordan.
Founded in 1953 as a primary school to serve the children of the British Military based in Amman, ICS today is proud to be one of the longest-established international schools in the country. Inspired by our patrons, HRH Prince El Hasan bin Talal and HRH Princess Sarvath El Hassan, our roots are very much in Jordanian soil, but our outlook is unashamedly international. We aim to provide the highes
At ICS, we are proud to equip our students with valuable life skills that go beyond the classroom. Our newly trained Peer Helpers have undergone an intensive training program, gaining expertise in areas such as confidentiality, leadership, mental health first aid, and safeguarding. Through interactive workshops, they’ve learned how to offer emotional, social, and academic support to their peers.
These compassionate leaders are now fully prepared to create a supportive and inclusive environment, recognizing when a fellow student may need help and ensuring they receive the guidance they need. We’re excited to welcome them and see the positive impact they’ll have this academic year!
By fostering empathy, leadership, and teamwork, we aim to nurture well-rounded individuals who are ready to contribute meaningfully to their community.
This week in Mosaic of ICS, our featured hero is a face familiar to all of us: Rakan Al Khayat! For the past 9 years, Rakan has been a core part of our general support staff, serving as an internal messenger/runner who is always ready to lend a helping hand. He finds deep satisfaction in being part of a team that ensures teachers and students have everything they need to thrive, fostering a collaborative spirit at ICS. Rakan’s passion shines through in his dedication to the success of our educational journey, from keeping inventories impeccably organised to ensuring supplies are always available. But there’s more! Beyond work, Rakan has a creative side—he’s an enthusiast of photography and skilled in crafting electronics, like mini aircraft and solar-powered systems. Known for his handsome face and warm smile, Rakan is someone you can count on. We’re so grateful to have him as a cherished member of our ICS family!
We are so proud of our U13 boys and girls teams who recently participated in the World Schools Games in Barcelona! Competing among 73 teams, our students not only showcased their athletic abilities but also represented ICS with outstanding sportsmanship and teamwork. A special congratulations to our girls’ team for taking 1st place in the Plate competition, demonstrating incredible determination and cooperation. The boys’ team also impressed us with their resilience and effort, learning from each game and supporting each other throughout. Beyond the tournament, our students enjoyed exploring the beautiful city of Barcelona, swimming, sightseeing, and creating unforgettable memories. We love seeing our students thrive both on and off the field!
Just before we headed into the mid-term break, our students took center stage in our very first House Drama Competition, a new addition to our house competitions heritage! Each of the four houses brought their unique creativity, humour, and teamwork to life as they portrayed how ICS is seen through the lens of our students. From witty performances to laugh-out-loud imitations of their teachers, it was a day filled with laughter and unforgettable moments.
The competition was fierce, with every house demonstrating outstanding acting skills and camaraderie, a true reflection of the vibrant spirit and close-knit community we cultivate at ICS. In the end, our dedicated team of teachers, acting as judges and jury, awarded Aqaba House the win! Their performance was not only creative but also a showcase of how teamwork and dedication lead to success.
At ICS, we believe in nurturing well-rounded students who can shine both academically and in extracurricular activities, and our house system plays a big role in building a strong sense of belonging and teamwork. Congratulations to all the students for their incredible performances! We can’t wait to see what’s next on the stage!
Which house do you think will take the trophy next time?
Meet Hebah Bzadough, a dedicated teaching assistant who has been part of the ICS family for 2 years! What Hebah loves most about ICS is being part of a supportive team and the opportunities for growth it offers. One of her most memorable moments was when we celebrated our excellent BSO inspection result—a true team effort! Her passion shines through in her role, and we’re so grateful for her hard work!
This week, our ICS students and staff united in pink to show their support for Cancer Awareness Week.
It’s more than just a color, it’s a powerful reminder of the strength, hope, and courage of those affected by cancer.
Together, we’re raising awareness, spreading love, and standing in solidarity with cancer fighters and survivors. Every small action counts in the journey to finding a cure. Let’s keep supporting, learning, and caring.
Last Friday, our ICS community came together for the Walk for Life event in support of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation. We’re so thankful for the incredible turnout, seeing everyone proudly wearing their shirts and walking in solidarity to raise cancer awareness. A big thank you to everyone who participated, your support is making a difference! Stay tuned for more events this week as we continue our efforts to spread awareness and hope.
At ICS, our Parent Staff Association (PSA) plays a vital role in fostering community spirit and supporting various initiatives that make a difference. With 138 active members, our PSA has successfully organized events like our recent Welcome Back BBQ, the Second Hand Uniform Charity Bazaar, and the Food Fair. They’ve also raised substantial funds for meaningful causes such as supporting mental health services in Gaza and renovating the Naour Nursery.
But that’s not all! From monthly coffee mornings to charity drives, the PSA team works tirelessly to strengthen our community and enhance student experiences. Their efforts have not only brought us closer together but have also provided valuable resources, like the creation of a student bursary from second-hand uniform sales.
A special thank you to every PSA member for your dedication and hard work! We’re so proud of what you’ve achieved and can’t wait for the exciting events to come, including the upcoming Walk for Life charity event on October 11th in support of breast cancer awareness.
What a fantastic day at our latest BBQ event! A big shoutout to our wonderful PSA for organizing this incredible welcoming event for our community. It was amazing to see a full house with both new and familiar faces coming together! ICS is truly unique because of its vibrant community, and we take so much pride in moments like these where we can all connect, laugh, and create lasting memories. Thank you to everyone for showing up and making this day unforgettable! Here’s to more happy moments this academic year!
Few weeks earlier, our Year 8 students set off on an inspiring adventure to the historic Citadel in Amman! Not only did they explore one of Jordan’s most iconic landmarks, but they also unleashed their creativity by sketching the breathtaking surroundings and fascinating museum artifacts!
From the towering minarets to ancient weapons and traditional garments, the students captured it all through their artistic lens. Their sketches tell a story of history, culture, and personal perspective, showing how art can bring the past to life!
Swipe to see the Citadel from a new point of view—through the eyes of our talented young artists!
Today, we unite as a global community to reflect on the powerful message of peace. At ICS, we are proud to have a diverse and vibrant student body, representing cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives from every corner of the world. This World Peace Day, we come together to honor the values of compassion, understanding, and unity that form the foundation of our school community.
As an international school, we believe in the importance of fostering peace through education, empathy, and respect for one another. Our students are not only the leaders of tomorrow but the peacemakers of today. Through our classrooms, projects, and activities, we encourage them to embrace their role in creating a world where diversity is celebrated and differences are respected.
Let’s continue to spread peace, love, and unity—both within our school and beyond.
Last evening ‘s Parent Information Carousel was a huge success, with around 150 parents joining us! We covered important topics like Safeguarding & Counselling, Trips & Visits, Secondary Behaviours & Rewards, Primary Parental Engagement and more.
It was a fantastic opportunity for parents to connect with the ICS leadership team and gain valuable insights into our educational framework. We loved having the chance to engage with so many of you and discuss the different ways we guide student learning. Your involvement and support are key to our collective success!
Thank you to everyone who attended, and we can’t wait for future events where we can continue working together for our children’s success.
A huge thank you to all the parents who joined us for our Primary Meet & Greet during the first weeks back! It was amazing to see so many familiar faces and welcome new ones into the ICS community. We hope you found it insightful and that it gave you the perfect kick-start for the academic year ahead!
We are incredibly proud to have supported the King Hussein Cancer Center over the years through various initiatives, including our most recent event, the Walk for Life.
Few weeks ago, two of our staff members, Mrs. Dina and Mr. Brian, had the honor of attending a recognition ceremony where ICS was awarded a plaque for our ongoing efforts in supporting this important cause.
The King Hussein Cancer Center shared this touching message with us: “You are indeed ambassadors of goodwill, as your support over the years has enabled our partnership to help save our patients. Thank you for standing with us in the fight against cancer.”
We are truly grateful for this recognition and remain dedicated to making a positive impact. Together, we will continue the fight against cancer.
Today, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming our new families to our vibrant community. It was heartwarming to see our newest members connect with our dedicated admin and academic staff, explore our beautiful campus, and start their journey with us. Your presence has already made our community feel brighter and more special.
We can’t wait to welcome our amazing students tomorrow and fill our halls with joy and energy once again! See you tomorrow, ICS family!
It’s been a vibrant and exciting few days at ICS as we welcomed our new staff members and celebrated the return of our existing staff during induction week! We are thrilled to have everyone back and are buzzing with energy as we prepare for the new school year.
We’re also eagerly looking forward to New Families Day on Tuesday, where we’ll be welcoming our new families to the ICS community! And, of course, the highlight of the week—seeing all our students back on campus for the official first day of school on Wednesday! See you soon!
