This Sunday (Sep 8th) visit us for our KOBILS Open Day for preschool, kindergarten and elementary school students for April 2025. New farm/outdoor classroom community project. We are building raised beds with bamboo as our first challenge of this school year.

What an excellent week we had. Thanks to the Green Camp Bali coordinators, leaders, cooks and staff. We learned lots about sustainability, we tried and loved lots of new foods - who would have guessed we would have loved our plant based diet? - and we adventured. Thanks to the children for being super resilient and up for everything. KOBILS strong! Really proud.

Green Camp Bali… We arrived after a long long day of travel. Everyone did so well!!! But everyone was in high spirits and we still enjoyed a full day of activitiies… making mandalas, fantastic food, Amazing Race, and Night Safari for the older children too…

Countdown to KOBILS Green Camp Bali trip. We are so excited. Janina visited Bali to check out the travel arrangements, where we will be staying and all the activities for the KOBILS trip to Green Camp, Bali in February. Have a look around the camp. Thanks to the wonderful team for welcoming her! We are really looking forward to our trip!

Halloween was so much fun. Thanks to the KOBILS families for such brilliant costumes and such delicious and creative snacks. Thanks to our neighbors as always for participating in our annual trick or treating. So much fun!

Three Day Trip, grade 5/6 style... Hiroshima and Miyajima. Peace Park, Itsukushima shrine, Hiroshima Castle. Good times.

Day Two, three Day Trip for grades 1-4. Lots of fun witha. boat ride round Amanohashidate and a beach clean up. Following our SGGs mission...

Three Day Trip... grades 1-4 off to Miyazu on the Japan Sea (near Amanohashidate). Day One we stopped off at Sasayama Children's Museum and we made castanets that we will use as accompaniments for our singing when we have a campfire on Day 2. After we arrived, we did outdoor cooking and made curry rice for dinner... We were so tired...

Career's Week Kindy: Among other activities this week, K3 visited our local cakeshop, Bourche, and learned how cakes were made and looked at all the designs. Then we designed our own cakes. What a great experience!

What an exciting Careers Week we had at KOBILS Elementary. We had presentations from a welding engineer, a dental hygienist, an entrepreneur with a material sales/footwear design company, a diversity, equity and inclusion specialist and two digital nomads who worked while traveling the world! Some of the presenters were here with us in Kobe, and we also had visitors from Portland in the US and Montenegro in Europe via Zoom! We learned lots and had lots of questions. As part of our year of the environment, we'll be taking 66 children to Bali Green Camp (part of the world famous Green School Bali) in February next year. Day 2 and 3 of SDGs Summer School: We started dancing, we built water filters for clean water and sanitation (6) yesterday and then tested them today at our farm with the really dirty water from the ditches round the farm. Then we went to Kobe City’s outdoor classroom at Tainohata and built dens, climbed trees, made a swing from a vine, collected leaves and caught bugs… We are also working on our research projects. We have many questions to ask Kobe City about Kobe’s sustainability plans (SustInable cities, 11) and garbage disposal (Tesponsible production and consumption (12). We can definitely all do better!

Day One: Summer School. We are studying about the United Nations SDGs. We start with games based small group　rotations... so we can cover lots of content in a short time and kids can interact, have fun and bond in multiage groups. In the afternoon we get into our level based class groups for some interactive study. Lots of learning, lots of fun for students, teachers and staff at KOBILS this summer.

Family Fun Day 23 was.... wait for it... fun. Especially because we beat the weather! Thank you to all parents and staff who worked so hard, families, guests and visitors, children who performed in our talent show and everyone who made teruterubozu (rain dolls!) and scared away the rain!
