Les Grands ballets de Tahitiは、タヒチで最も現代的なタヒチアン・ダンス・カンパニー　として知られています。1998年に設立し、約50名のダンサー、20名のミュージシャン、6名の歌手で構成されています。彼らの創り出すものは非常に自由で、タヒチで開催されるコンクールの枠組みには嵌らなかったため、どのコンクールにも参加しませんでした。

創作の自由さを保つために、振付師は伝統的な創作の外に身を置き、伝統的なダンスを現代に通じるものとして再生させ、新しいステップやハンドモーションを取り入れています。

そして、単なるフォークロアを超越しているという意志を表現しているかのような2006年9月の創作作品は、よりミュージカル調の喜劇に近いものになっており、シルク・ドゥ・ソレイユに影響を受けたとも言われています。

定期的な公演をInternational Tahiti Resortにて開催するほか、パリ、カナダ、ラスベガス、メキシコ、日本、オーストラリアなど世界各地でワールドツアーを展開し、高い評価を得ています。伝統とモダンの要素を取り入れたクリエイティブなポリネシアン・ダンスカンパニーとして、その地位を確立しています。

Les Grands Ballets de Tahiti, a Polynesian dance group which is a mixture of the traditional and the modern, established at Tahiti in 1998. Tahitian dance is popularly called Tamure. They have 50 dancers, 20 musicians and 6 singers. In order to their freedom to create, the choreographer is located deliberately in the margin of the traditional creation. And Les Grands Ballets de Tahiti never participated in any dance competition, because their creations were very unconventional and deviated from a framework of the regulations of the competitions. They held a periodical performance at International Tahiti Resort and developed a world tour in Paris, Canada, Las Vegas, Mexico, Japan, Australia and all over the world and got a high evaluation. They established group as the creative Polynesian dance company which adopted a tradition and a factor of the modishness.
