Handmade garments ~ Custom and dyeing
Vintage selection ~ Made to order
Tokyo, Japan
Nothing changed apart from the technics. Still using 100% plant based and natural dye. No chemical and environmentaly friendly, we are now looking into new colors. We feel deeply connected to Indigo blue obviously but as we always look for new recycling technics and experience new process, we will now start using food scraps such as onion peel, herbs stems or spice leftovers to create those deep natural colors. Excited about what's coming next.

This time we worked on a new pattern inspired by Tokyo's sky. As we live in a coastal city, we tend to get the ocean wind but also the cloudy but super blue sky. It was our very first time using this technic and we could not be more happy by looking at the result.

As you already know, dyeing is a big part of our project. We have been busy making your masks and custom made orders for the last weeks. What a blast to be back at the fermentation and lab process. By trying out new technics every time we dye, we just develop new skills and new ideas are coming over. It's always an exciting process and we wished we could do it all day.

Traveling has always been a big part of our life. Every country, culture or people we meet have something to share. Traveling is also the perfect timing to open your mind and create.
The idea behind this product comes from our last trip in Taiwan. As we were traveling and changing places every two days, we needed something convenient to make sure we would not loose the keys from any room we were staying at. Arriving in Tokyo just after and being able to meet with some amazing leather makers gave us this idea of the key holder. Made out of leather scraps usually thrown away because of their size or defect.

Doing and experiencing Sashiko is definitely a lot of work but so much fun at the same time. I was obvious to us to add this wink to the pants by embroidering our name on the denim ankle.
Shout out to for the made in Japan All Star.
As we explained before, this project is not only handmade garments but also vintage and customized products.
The easy pants and this specific interpretation are really connected to our first trip in Japan years ago.
The Sashiko version is part of a larger customized collection of vintage easy pants we will drop once in a while.
Sashiko details on our vintage easy pants. Inspired by abstract art and the purity of the white thread on this denim blue fabric.
We have imagined and created this product from scratch together.

Who are we?
Endless re-use.
The idea behind UNNEW is to dedicate ourselves to upcycle and use every single scrap of fabric we might have to craft new garments.
Vintage, handmade, custom and natural dye.
Our vision is leading us to dig for new shape, colors, patterns but always making sure we respect the planet. To do so, we defined three main lines:
Hand making in our atelier unique collections,
Customizing vintage garments and playing with natural dye,
And finally selecting some traditional and amazing used products.
Tokyo, Japan.
After years of planning this idea and balancing personal and professional lives, we both decided to quit everything and move to Tokyo, where we officially started the project. Come with us on this journey through Japan, its craft and indigo dyeing. Ekip.
