University of Eldoret’s Becky Achieng’ Aloo received the Green Talents competition award on October 22nd, 2018 for her research targeted at indigenous rhizobacteria associated with Irish potatoes (Solanum tuberosum L.) and their feasibility in biofertilisation and bio-stimulation of Irish potato cropping systems in Tanzania. Her project examined the biology and physiology of the bacteria, their genetics and phylogenetic relationships as well as their effects on potato physiology and growth parameters. She is currently a PhD student in Biodiversity and Ecosystems Management at the Nelson Mandela African Institute Of Science And Technology, Tanzania. The global competition is for high potentials in sustainable development and awarded to 25 winners annually.
University of Eldoret fifth year Civil and Structural engineering student Stella Muthungu, received Anita Borg scholarship to attend Grace Hopper Celebration that took place on 24 - 29th September, 2018 in Houston Texas. She received an invite and awarded a scholarship by the Anita Borg Institute to attend the Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC) of Women in Computing and Technology conference.
At the conference, Women in computing from around the world gathered at GHC to network, find or be mentors, create collaborative proposals, and increase the visibility of women’s contributions to computing. Leaders from industry, academia and government presented their work while special sessions focus on the role of women in today's technology fields.

Continuation of the Semester

Seasons greetings. While our christian brothers and sisters celebrate the Christmas holiday, we are together in mourning our beloved comrade Hazary Murimi who passed away on Friday 22nd due to a brain tumor. Fellow students and well-wishers will have a fundraiser on Wednesday 27 December in Eldoret to assist the family to cater for the costs of surgery, hospitalization and burial. The late Hazary Murimi will be laid to rest on 29th December in Embu town. Contributions can be sent to the rugby team manager who will be in charge of proceedings on 0716971863.

We are deeply saddened by the news of Leon Hazary passing away on Friday 22nd December at 9pm. Leon was a second year student and rugby player. He died from complications arising due to brain tumor. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends. Rest in Peace Champion

This is to inform All Staff And Students that the University will break for Elections (voting exercise) from Monday 23th October, 2017 to Sunday 29th except those in essential service areas like: Security, Health services, Farm. This is to allow members of staff and students to travel to various destinations for the voting exercise. The University will re-open on Monday 30th October, 2017 at 8.00am. For students, Lectures resume on Monday 30th October, 2017 as well.
Heads of Departments/Sections in essential service areas should organize a duty roaster in their respective Departments/Sections for the said period.
For members of staff, please note that the days for this break and those taken between 4th August, 2017 and Monday 21st August, 2017 will NOT be deducted from the annual leave days.
