Over the last 3 days, our new first year students have been undergoing orientation collectively and in their individual schools. They've also been familiarized with the facilities they'll be using and received sensitizations and talks from different offices and departments on pertinent information needed to facilitate their stay at MNUC.
This shall culminate on Monday with their Matriculation ceremony before their lecturers commence on Tuesday.
We are honored to welcome our 4th cohort of 1st year students who've been arriving from yesterday. The admission and registration process has been ongoing for the last two days with Orientation beginning tomorrow.

In line with our commitment to continual improvement, MNUC strives to consistently deliver high-quality and relevant education, training, research, and outreach. To uphold this commitment to our
stakeholders, we engaged the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) for ISO 9001:2015 certification. The University College successfully passed the stage 2 audit, which took place this week, and has been recommended for certification.
In preparation for the registration and admission of our 4th first year cohort, our Principal Prof. Zipporah Ng'ang'a went to check on the progress and the level of completion of our new and upcoming Tuition Block.
The Principal was accompanied by the Deputy Principal, Prof. Thomas Sakwa, Registrar (ASA) Dr. Benson Mburu, the Head of Projects and Estate Management Arch. Michael Mwangi and the Clerk of Works Mr. Peter Kamau; seen with her after the walk through as she planted a tree.
A huge congratulations to every single graduand for seeing the program through, well done. May this be the beginning of many successful chapters for you all.

Dr. Ann Ritari of Mama Ngina University attended the Third Stakeholders Conference on Enhancing Human Rights in Africa, organized by the Data for Governance Alliance (D4GA) in Nairobi. The conference brings together civil society organizations, government bodies, and human rights activists to explore the use of data in promoting human rights across the continent. With keynote speakers like former Chief Justice David Maraga emphasizing the power of data in holding governments accountable, the event will enhance participants' skills in data-driven human rights advocacy over the next three days.
A team from MNUC was pleased to undertake a visit to Konza Technopolis yesterday to assess Cloud Hosting and Data Center Standards in line with MNUC strategy to upgrade our Data Center and establish a centre for Open Distance and Electronic Learning.
The University College was represented by Dr. Ratemo Cyprian (Dean, School of Pure and Applied Sciences), Mr. Isaac Kuria (Head, ICT), Mr. Dion Martin (ICT Network Administrator) and Mr. Zachary Kariuki (Head, Procurement). The team engaged in a knowledge sharing session with Konza Technopolis Cloud Engineers, Network Engineers, and Power Solutions Architects.
Both teams also charted way on the possibility of forming a partnership in line with the Vision 2030 Government's mission of facilitating sustainable social economic transformation by leveraging on ICT, Universal Access to Information and Communication Services for Global Competitiveness.

In case you missed it, an amazing thing happened at MNUC:
Mama Ngina University College hosted a major twin-event at the University College's premises this past Wednesday, 17th July 2024. Three Universities in the Nairobi Metropolitan pitched great digital solutions birthed during a Rapid Tech Skills Program funded by World Bank in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade Investments, State Department of Industry. The event also looped in experts from industry who unpacked the challenges and opportunities around innovation amongst faculty, students and industry.
Over hundred beneficiaries of the program who will be graduating next month showcased cutting edge digital solutions built with the support of facilitators drawn from the three Universities (Mama Ngina University College, Kenyatta University and Jomo Kenyatta University - JKUAT.
The diverse solutions presented by the Kiep_SKIES scholars stand to significantly influence how certain things are done going forward.The program has retooled over two hundred and fifty (250+) young people selected across the country for the fast evolving job market.
The areas of focus in program include Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Data Science and Critical Soft Skills.

Institutions implementing the KIEP-SKIES Rapid Tech Skills Program in the Nairobi Metropolitan region will hold an exhibition on Wednesday, 17th July 2024 at Mama Ngina University College grounds in Mutomo.
The Mama Ngina University College KIEP-SKIES scholars will be led by the Dean of the School of Pure and Applied Sciences Dr. Ratemo Makiya. Other participating universities include groups from Jomo Kenyatta University - JKUAT and Kenyatta University who will show case the cutting-edge projects they've been working on.
There shall also be a panel discussion led by experts on: "Commercialization of faculty and student projects (beyond the classroom)". The panel discussion will involved great minds in Kenya's innovation ecosystem.
This will be an open forum so feel free to join us on the day and see what these great minds have put together.
Mama Ngina University College (MNUC) was represented at the Kenya Education Management Information System (KEMIS) Workshop by Mr. Isaac Kuria, our Head of ICT.
The Ministry of Education - Kenya through the Ministry of Information, Communications & The Digital Economy KE is set to streamline and centralize data across all levels of the education system. KEMIS, will serve as a single source of truth and a one-stop shop for all information. The system will guarantee access to accurate data for planning and strategic decision-making on various aspects of education. The system will also harmonise the management of data on education from Early Grade learning to University level.
MNUC appreciates the critical role its staff plays in realizing strategic goals and mandate through various means. As such, the University is keen on promoting work-life balance to ensure the holistic well-being of its staff. On Friday, 28th June 2024, the University College, in collaboration with ICEA Lion, organized a walk themed โWalking the Talk.โ The walk focused on creating awareness on the importance of well-being in all aspects of life.
While flagging off the walk, the University College Principal, Prof. Zipporah Ngโangโa, underscored the importance of physical, social, psychological, economic, and emotional well-being, among others. She reiterated that well-being is essential for a productive and fulfilling life, and the University is committed to supporting its staff in achieving a balanced and healthy lifestyle. Staff were later taken through training on financial literacy and pension management by a team from ICEA LION GROUP lead by Messrs. Kenneth Muchiri and Wachira Nyamu.

Yesterday, our Compliments and Complaints Committee closed out the 2023-2024 financial year with a Customer Service Sensitization and a Staff Appreciation forum.
Staff members from key offices offered insight to others on their processes and services offered and ways in which we could all play a part in enriching the experience of all our customers.
The MNUC management was also present, represented by the Registrar (ASA) and Human Resource Officer who encouraged staff to be remain diligent in their service delivery at all times.

As we'd shared previously, MNUC commemorated the International Day of the African Child (IDAC) for the 3rd time in a row with this year's theme being โEducation for all Children in Africa: the Time is now.โ
The event, much like the previous two, was held at the Mutomo Primary School grounds, coordinated by Mama Ngina University College (MNUC) and representatives from the 12 schools (primary and secondary) in the MNUC Mentorship Programme.
The day began with mentorship sessions for both teachers and students before the day's festivities. The event was dignified by Dr. John Muiruri, Country Director for Children in Conflict (AFCIC), as the guest speaker.
Immense gratitude to MNUC students and students from Kenyatta University IEEE chapter for taking the time to speak to and inspire the pupils and students present during the early morning mentorship session; and to our sponsors Equity Bank Kenya (Gatundu Branch) and Family Bank Ltd (Gatundu Branch).

We ended our previous week with the MNUC Productivity Mainstreaming Committee (PMC), chaired by the Principal Prof. Zipporah Ng'ang'a, having a three day validation exercise at the University College boardroom from Wednesday 19th -21st June 2024.
The three day exercise enabled PMC to verify productivity metrics data and compute the MNUC productivity index for the financial 2022/23.
The exercise was spearheaded by University College productivity champions led by Dr. Simon Ndicu and consultants from the National Productivity and competitiveness center (NPCC), Ms. Jane Maina and Mr. John Chege.

Our School of Pure and Applied Sciences was represented at a forum recently with other key stakeholders for the regional launch of the Innovators Sprint Up Programme & Digital Skills Training Twin Programme.
The programs seek to empower the next generation of innovators and equip them with the skills to thrive in the digital age.
Various stakeholders involved in the project were present including University Council of East Africa among others.
