You need to seek out the opportunities and prepare to thrive when one is in your sights – success doesn’t simply appear. Every chef, or should I say every serious cook, has the ability to reach for that elusive chef’s job, discover how to make a difference, create a culinary signature that others will notice, and earn a comfortable living in the process. The difference between those who reach those goals and those who do not is almost always a willingness to do the right work to get there.

Chefs should be paid a living wage and they should be able to feel secure in their job as long as they do what is required, but beyond that each step towards the position of chef is in the individual’s hands. So, if you are ready to take the leap – here you go:

Everyone wants to reach their goals quickly – to become what he or she aspires to become without the effort and time that comes with the turf, but it just doesn’t work that way. To truly become a chef requires that you have a wealth of knowledge and experience that never comes easy, always requires extra effort, and involves a sometimes-bumpy road along the way. Be patient – it will take time.

I am going to do whatever it takes to prepare for the position – I am in it to win it”. Make the commitment, put it in writing, live it every day, and when you look in a mirror, do so knowing that you never waiver from what is required.

There was this era, where preachers walked around with big briefcases and oversized suits.
The church was ridiculed for mis-representing God. The Gen-Zs of the time, openly criticized the young preachers of the time and made it look like going to church was sentensing oneself to a life of abject poverty.

Those were the days that girls would openly say, "I can't marry a pastor! Ndio niende niteseke?" That slogan has since changed.

Then, a new breed of Christian leaders emerged. They argued that ascetism (rejecting all forms of affluence and wealth) was not the correct representation of the Christian God.
They taught that one could be pious and still be godly.

These preachers used scriptures like "....And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south. And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.." (Genesis 13:1-2) among others to argue for their position on christian affluence.

Within no time, the crop of Christian pastors with oversized suits and big briefcases disappeared. In came a new breed of well polished, smart looking preachers.
This appealed to the young generation who had previously been taught that Christianity is vowing to poverty.

These preachers also argued that the television shouldn't be left to political propaganda and movies that taught foreign ideals. For those who don't understand what I am saying, there was a time when we had a series on TV called, 'The Bold and the Beautiful.' There was a young lady in that program called Brook who married a son, a dad and a brother, at different time but within the same family.
Preachers felt that it was necessary to put the gospel message on TV to teach Christian ideals to the masses.

That was the time that the likes of Pst. Lai of JCC, Bamburi, Bishop Mark of Deliverance Church, Nakuru, at the time, and later on Bishop Muiru, Apostle James Maina Ng'ang'a and Bishop Allan Kiuna, Just to mention but a few, rose to prominence.

I am putting this out there to help our young people to understand that the likes of Bishop Allan Kiuna and his contemporaries started their TV ministries to answer to a need that existed at the time. These were well meaning christian leaders. I am not saying that in their response to the existing philosophical questions of the day, that they were perfect, No! I am only saying that they did the best they could with what they had at the time.

To come out here and vilify a man that came out to respond to a generation that had looked down on Christendom is, obviously, unfair!
Bishop Kiuna is not here to defend himself now. I am sure even if he could defend himself, the huge team of unbelieving bloggers out here wouldn't listen to what he has to say.

Today, there are other new christian voices ringing loudly for this generation among them is a man of God called Pst.Tee Mwangi.

I will boldly call an 'anti-christ,' anyone who looks for any available opportunity to vilify church leaders and the church.
If you are not anti-christ, then write about the good things that Kiuna has done also. Isn't it fair to look at both sides of the coin?
What about the struggle with raising an autistic child in his house. Are people even aware that Kiuna had such a big heart that he married a lady who was a single mother?

A Story With A Valuable Lesson.

A boy said to his grandfather,
"Grandpa, I would like you to teach me something they won't teach me in school. Something that would be valuable and important in my life."

The grandfather took a deep breath, hesitated for a moment, then whispered,
"Something they won't teach you in school? Okay, fine."

He took the boy by the hand and they went for a walk; he was silent, he didn’t speak. They went down to the end of the field, and stopped in front of a small fence.

The grandfather then told the boy,
"Look at this fence; it's the smallest fence in this area. I want you to jump over it. I want to see that you can jump over it. Come on, jump over it!"

The boy stared at the fence, then shook his head and said,
"Grandpa, I can't jump over the fence, it's too high. It's really high!"

The grandfather whistled,
"Oh, come on, just try. You can do this!"

The boy nodded his head slightly, took a deep breath and prepared to jump. He ran towards the fence and attempted to jump over it, but he struck the fence with his chest and fell to the ground.

He sprang to his feet, made a second attempt, but promptly fell down again. He got up immediately, leaped into the air to jump over the fence, but he tumbled to the ground. He fell down several times and got up again, jumped, fell down and got up. The situation began to look impossible.

However, on the seventh attempt, the boy stepped further back, about ten paces away from the fence. He took a run-up and successfully jumped over the fence. He was so excited by his victory that he clapped his hands and screamed for joy.

The grandfather asked him,
"So tell me... How did you do it?"
