The floppy disk revolution.

In the era before USB drives and cloud storage, the humble floppy disk was the go-to method for portable data storage. Introduced in the late 1960s and popularized in the 1980s and 1990s, these flexible, magnetic storage disks came in various sizes, with the 3.5-inch disk becoming a standard.

With a capacity ranging from a mere 360 KB to 1.44 MB for the high-density 3.5-inch disks, floppy disks were used to store everything from documents and spreadsheets to small software programs and games. Transferring files often meant swapping multiple disks, and the distinct "click" of inserting a floppy disk into a drive became a familiar sound.

Today, as we effortlessly store and share gigabytes of data through wireless connections and tiny storage devices, the floppy disk stands as a nostalgic symbol of the early days of personal computing and data storage.

The winning solution, "Dawa Drop," spearheaded by Team Bits & Bytes and led by our esteemed CTO, Laurent Omondi, focuses on enhancing healthcare delivery. This innovative approach tackles the challenge of efficiently distributing Anti-Retroviral Drugs (ARVs) and other vital medications to HIV patients through a dedicated courier service.
