The leadership academy program application has been closed, and out of the 50 applications received, 20 will be accepted to participate in the first cohort.

These selected participants will be taken through a leadership module approved by the Uzalendo Afrika Initiative.

The curriculum includes comprehensive models on understanding the constitution and the qualities of future leaders.

This program aims to equip participants with the essential skills and knowledge to become effective leaders in their communities.

Attending the computer classes at Future Pillars office was enriching as we delved into Social Media Marketing and Canva Graphic Design with expert guidance from Aisha Sazuri and Ilham.

Their expertise illuminated the intricacies of these subjects, offering valuable insights and practical skills.

Additionally, it was heartwarming to welcome back Madam Elye Abass after her maternity leave, adding to the camaraderie and energy of the learning environment.

Overall, it was an inspiring and productive session that left us equipped with new knowledge and eager to apply it.

We are thrilled to announce Arafat Omar as our member of the week. Arafat, a 19-year-old who is our Assistant Office Administrator, is a dedicated individual who goes above and beyond in all his endeavors.

Not only is Arafat the head of the Mombasa Jitambue writing club, but he is also a mentor and author. His passion for education is evident through his enrollment in an education course and his role as a tutor at Tijara Tuition Center, where he teaches Kiswahili and IRE.

What sets Arafat apart is his journey from being a mentee in our mentorship program last year to now being a valuable member of our organization. As the former school captain leading 1,200 students at Allidina Visram, Arafat has shown exceptional leadership qualities.

His commitment to community work and enhancing the quality of education is truly admirable.

Arafat’s hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed, and we are proud to have him as part of our organization.

Congratulations, Arafat, on being named the member of the week. Your passion and drive are an inspiration to us all. Keep up the fantastic work!

Meet Sahim Abdilatif, a driven and ambitious form three student at Allidina Visram High School. Sahim’s passion lies in architecture, a field he hopes to pursue in the future. He serves as the chair of peer counseling, where he provides support and guidance to his fellow students.

Sahim’s journey towards achieving his goals has been supported by our organization’s mentorship program at Allidina Visram High School where we mentored the students for six months.

We are proud to offer a platform for high school students like Sahim, providing them with opportunities for growth and learning through our various programs and initiatives.

Sahim’s dedication and drive serve as an inspiration to his peers and a testament to the potential of young students like him.

Led by H.E Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir Hon. Mohamed Soud Machele, we officially launched Tijara Tuition Centre at Masjid Anisa, Mji wa Kale Mombasa.

This initiative was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Shariff Nassir Foundation, Future Pillars and Tijara Youth Group.

The Tijara Tuition Center will serve as a hub for students to receive free tutoring in various subjects, with the ultimate goal of enhancing their academic performance. Our organization will provide tutors whom are the high school graduates we enrolled earlier this year.

In addition we will also offer mentorship and career guidance to empower students to reach their full potential.

Our organization is proud to announce a partnership with Tijara Tuition Center and the Shariff Nassir Foundation to offer free tuition to Form 3 and 4 students in Mombasa. As part of this initiative, our high-achieving high school graduates will serve as tutors to support the students in their academic endeavors.

Our primary goal is to enhance the academic performance of students in Mombasa through personalized support and mentorship. In addition to offering tuition assistance, we will provide mentorship to help students navigate their educational journey and achieve their full potential.

We are excited to be a part of this collaboration and look forward to making a positive impact on the lives of students in Mombasa.

Today, our Reporting and Documentation Officer, Hafidha Abdulaziz Khamis participated in a Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) training organized by Uzalendo Afrika Initiative

Through engaging in interactive sessions and practical exercises, she was able to deepen her understanding of MERL concepts and methodologies. One of the key takeaways from the training was learning how to develop a theory of change, crafting a project proposal and practical insights and techniques that she can apply in her role within our organization.

As an organization, we are committed to continuously building the capacity of our members and providing them with opportunities for growth and development.

At Future Pillars, Fahmi supports the organization by providing computer maintenance services and participating in computer classes. This platform has allowed him to nurture his talents and expand his knowledge in the field of technology.

Rather than spending his holidays idle or engaging in harmful activities, Fahmi has found a productive outlet at Future Pillars. By offering opportunities for high school students like Fahmi to engage in meaningful activities during the break, Future Pillars is making a positive impact in the community.

Yesterday marked the commencement of the digital literacy training program for teachers at Shika Adabu Secondary School. This initiative, a collaboration between Angaza Center and Future Pillars, aims to provide essential digital skills to educators in rural African secondary schools.

Gheida Abdala and Mark Ombacho, representing Future Pillars, are actively involved in the ongoing training sessions. Facilitated by Joseph Mwaura, co-founder of Angaza Center, the program is designed to empower teachers with the necessary knowledge and tools to effectively integrate technology into their classrooms.

Through this partnership, we are committed to supporting schools in rural communities by providing access to technology and enhancing their ICT facilities.

We look forward to seeing the positive impact of this training on the teachers and students at Shika Adabu Secondary School, and we are excited to continue our efforts in promoting digital literacy in education.

We are delighted to shine the spotlight on Hafidha Abdulaziz, as our member of the week.

Hafidha, at just 18 years old, is a recent graduate from Kenya High School with a vision to pursue a degree in medicine and surgery.

She joined us as a volunteer mentor, eager to make a positive impact in the lives of others. Her unwavering dedication and exceptional work ethic have not gone unnoticed, as she recently earned a promotion to the esteemed role of Head of Reporting and Documentation Officer.

In addition to her academic pursuits and role at Future Pillars, Hafidha is a shining example of leadership. She successfully completed the President's Award Program, demonstrating her commitment to personal development and service to others.

Mombasa Jitambue is a transformative initiative implemented under Future Pillars, with the aim of empowering the youth of Mombasa. Our goal is to unlock their potential, nurture their talents, and instill a sense of self-worth and purpose.

This past Saturday, we conducted our weekly session which focused on the theme of identity. Rummana, a member of Future Pillars and a counseling psychology student, led the session. She emphasized the importance of self-awareness and self-acceptance in shaping who we are.

The initiative has enrolled 20 youth who will be taken through a comprehensive program aimed at identifying and nurturing their talents. Through sessions like these, we hope to provide them with the tools and support they need to reach their full potential.

Join us in supporting the youth of Mombasa as they embark on this journey of self-discovery and growth. Together, we can empower the next generation to thrive and succeed.
