We are thrilled to announce that Weld-con has secured a groundbreaking project in collaboration with BBN!

Project: East African Crude Oil Pipeline Project
Partnership: Weld-con & BBN

Scope of Work: Installation of 30-inch piping and other various pipe sizes along the Jetty 2km Long which includes Valve Installation of Various sizes, Pipe Insulation, GRE pipeline. It also includes Instrument and Equipment Installation and Fire Fighting Equipment Installation

This monumental achievement marks a significant milestone for Weld-con and our esteemed partner, Besix Ballast Nedam (BBN). The East African Crude Oil Pipeline Project is a transformative initiative, and we are honored to play a crucial role in its success.

Our support for the Project takes our team to the port of Tanga in Northern Tanzania where we will be installing the 30” pipeline, associated piping, fire systems and E&I for the offshore loading facility.

We are proud to announce the award of the entire EPC contract for process tanks and vessels package for the new US$ 240 million Kilombero Sugar Plant in Tanzania.

Ranga is a versatile, accomplished and goal-oriented professional with over 24 years of experience working at some of the largest Audit firms in India, the Middle East and North America before beginning his career in Africa eight years ago.

Ranga joins the organization at a time of regional growth and will spearhead the groups activities in Strategic Planning, Risk Management & Compliance, Financial Modelling and Capital management.

As we strive to be more efficient, client centric and focus on better delivery of projects for our clients in East, Central and Southern Africa, Ranga’s experience and guidance will be invaluable to the organization.

Another beautiful and productive morning in Dar es Salaam where we are constructing over 30 oil and chemical tanks and multi seed oil refinery.

One of our core services is plant and power piping. All our piping installations conform to ASME standards and in particular ASME B31.3 for Plant Piping and ASME 31.1 for Power Piping.

We have successfully installed piping at petroleum facilities, edible oil refineries and power stations. Our commitment to quality means that we are able to track every step of the process including sourcing the materials and components, design, fabrication, assembly, er****on, examination, inspection and testing.

Weld-Con is proud to announce the award of the Port Reitz Tank Rehabilitation project that is of significant importance for Kenya and East Africa by Kenya Pipeline Company Limited.

Our team shall undertake the rehabilitation of five (5) tanks at the Port Reitz Tank Farm, previously used for crude oil storage that will now be used in the storage of AGO. Over the next 18 months, the project team will be involved in tank cleaning, repairs to the corroded tank bottom plate and floating roof as well as installation of new fixtures for the tanks. The tanks that will be rehabilitated are

Tank 701: Floating roof crude storage tank; 43.89m DIA and 14.64m height.
Tank 702: Floating roof crude storage tank; 43.89m DIA and 14.64m height
Tank 703: Double deck floating roof crude storage tank; 43.89m DIA and 14.64m height
Tank 706: floating roof crude storage tank; 43.89m DIA and 14.64m height
Tank 708: Dome roof crude storage tank with an internal floating roof; 60.89m DIA and 18.29m height.

This rehabilitation project will contribute in significantly easing the perennial inefficiencies that characterize the petroleum products supply chain. The increased storage capacity at the facility will also save oil marketing firms costs paid to shipping firms as demurrage charges

In addition, this will directly contribute to Kenya’s journey towards becoming the East African region’s petroleum products feeding hub in competition with the Dar es Salaam Port.

Core services of Weld-Con are tank construction and tank maintenance. To date, we have constructed over 250 tanks by the jack-up method. We do this work for a variety of clients across the East Africa region. As part of our commitment to safety and quality for all our work, our preferred approach to tank er****on is the hydraulic jacking system.

The primary advantage of the hydraulic jacking method is it is one of the safest modes to erect storage tanks. Complete work is executed on ground level reducing the risk of accidents. It reduces the need for scaffolding, working at heights and offers comfortable access for welders during construction.

In addition, welding inspection can be done easily using a variety of techniques including ultrasonic and other NDT tests on welds at ground level. Finally, using the hydraulic jacking system leads to faster tank er****on times, saving the client time and money.

We’ve shared a few photos of a tank we erected using the hydraulic jacking system. We do this for both new tank er****ons as well as for maintenance to existing storage tanks.

Earlier this month, Tanzania signed a framework agreement with Equinor and Shell that will bring them closer to starting construction on a $30bn project to export liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The final investment decision is expected in 2025 and a start of operations by 2029-2030 at a liquefied natural gas plant to be built in Tanzania’s southern coastal town of Lindi.

This exciting news reminds us at Weld-Con of the work we did in the Mtwara Gas fields in the early 2000s. On that project, we constructed and delivered
-shop fabricated tanks,
-the gas receiving facility and,
-several components of the gas processing facility.

Weld-Con is proud to announce the award of a contract to our Tanzanian associate company - WCL Engineering and Construction limited.

The Company has been tasked with the construction of a Greenfield Multi-Seed and Crop Oil Refinery in Tanzania. Over the next 12 months, the team will be involved in the fabrication and er****on of 13 vertical storage tanks and 3 rectangular tanks with diameters ranging from 5m to 10m. In addition to the tanks, the team will be fabricating and installing a chimney, dosing tank and associated plant piping.
