Dr. Bowe together with his wife, Sara Bowe, have been a great addition to Lighthouse for Christ Eye Center, Mombasa for the past two months. Dr. Bowe has been actively teaching, treating, and advising, and his efforts have not gone unnoticed. His expertise has helped the patients immensely, and our staff has grown tremendously under his leadership. We are truly grateful for his contributions. Dr. Bowe's commitment has motivated all of us to work hard to achieve our goals and continue healing spiritual and physical blindness. We appreciate his willingness to share his expertise and experience, which fosters a spirit of learning and progress at Lighthouse for Christ Eye Center. We would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Bowe for being an invaluable member of our team, and we eagerly anticipate his continued efforts to provide the gift of sight to our community! #CommunityService #Missionaries #loveothers #serve #longtermimpact #partnerwithus

Let's take a moment to appreciate Mrs. Bowe for her dedication, time, and expertise in discipling and mentoring the young generation at Lighthouse for Christ Mission Bible School. She is a natural Bible teacher, both in and out of class work. Recently, she spent some time discipling the Bible school ladies, and also learning more about the Kenyan culture, as well as teaching them how to cook some American food. We are really grateful for Mrs. Bowe's contribution in shaping the future and discipling the young ladies of our Bible school. Take some time to say a prayer for Dr. Bowe and Mrs. Bowe as they serve Christ in Mombasa, Kenya for two months. “The Lord hears the needy and does not despise his captive people” Psalm 69:33. In this video, we see Bibles being distributed to local prisoners. Sharing the good news with others is such an exciting thing. The word of God binds up the brokenhearted and transforms lives. These prisoners have been given a key that will lead to their eternal freedom. With June 8th being Ocean Day, we can’t help but post something about it! 🌊🏖 This footage was taken at one of our youth camps. These are such incredible moments where youth get to press pause on the everyday and receive from the Lord. During these times, the youth are surrounded by their friends where they get to embrace vulnerability along with fun competitive games. Not only are the youth receiving spiritual healing, but they also get to enjoy the healing aspects of the ocean! Here in Kenya, community is everything, but what’s community without a little food? No matter the event, no matter the place, there is bound to be food. At Lighthouse, we have a designated spot for guests and employees to come, eat, and enjoy time together. We highly value community and encourage everyone here at Lighthouse to get connected with each other. #healthyfood#communityfirst#mombasakenya#kenyannonprofit#eastafrica#comeandsee#onmissionwithgod#greatcommission#spiritualhealing#physicalhealing#mombasa

Happy Madaraka Day! Enjoy this day of celebrating freedom with friends and family. Psalm 118:24, “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” #madaraka#kenyannonprofit#eastafrica#comeandsee#onmissionwithgod#greatcommission#spiritualhealing#physicalhealing#mombasa

Another one of our big projects in 2023 has been our new optical shop space! This project has been moving at full speed. Although construction began just last month, the building has transformed from a car sales showroom to the newest addition of our eye clinic. This space is such a blessing as it reflects the growth of our ministry, but more importantly how God is providing for physical needs here in Mombasa! #PTL #comeandsee #kenyanonprofit #eyecare #optical #lighthouseforchrist

Kenyan Chai
Want a taste of Kenya? Chai is our go-to! Doreen makes chai for our entire Lighthouse staff each day so they can enjoy a cup during their break! While Doreen's recipe caters to a large group of about 50, you can still make Kenyan chai for yourself using smaller quantities: Add milk to a saucepan and allow it to boil Then reduce the heat, stir in your black tea mix (ours is spiced with ginger!) and allow it to come to a boil again. Once it boils you can turn off the heat, add sugar and pour through a sieve to separate the tea mix from your drink. We pour our chai into flasks (or thermos) to be distributed to our staff, but you serve it hot, directly after its strained! Let us know if you try this yummy Kenyan favorite!! #lighthouselife #kenyanonprofit #comeandsee

Our staff meets every Tuesday morning for worship and teaching here on the roof! What a refreshing way to start the day - remembering that Christ came, lived, died and rose again - defeating death - so that we could be reconciled to Him. Bwana Yesu Asifiwe! Lord Jesus be Praised! #comeandsee #devotional #worship #PTL

Are you ready for it? Back in 2020 we were keeping you up to date with the renovation of our new clinic space. Here it is in action! Amidst the pandemic, we didn’t get the chance to showcase this wonderful new space the Lord has blessed us with. Praise the Lord for growth He’s allowing in our ministry!

Join us for chapel today!! Each Friday our Bible Students gather together for chapel! It’s a sweet time of fellowship for our students who are pursuing further education.

Working on the church build this week, Sam Garrett was tasked with building the crosses that would adorn the exterior of the building. He was reminded that, "Without the cross we don’t have a faith.” He was moved by the idea that, “the crosses on the outside of the church might encourage someone to come in and see God’s grace.”
