The human anatomy has been inspiring art and artists since the beginning of time. Ben Nyakundi is one such artist. The diversity of human form fascinates him, triggering humorous visuals that blend human and plant together using a hatching technique, water colours and graphic computer applications.
Benson aspires to horn his skills in acrylic painting and spray painting. Besides practicing Graphic Design, he wishes to paint commissioned murals in homes, business premises and in public places. He enjoys the evidence based (non exam) learning in AGT as it grounds him towards his vision.

Graphic design involves creativity, innovation and lateral thinking using manual or digital tools. Designers communicate visually . The key areas of practice are; Publishing, Branding, Advertising, Photography, Package design and Web Design.
Training as a graphic artist requires creativity and willingness to artistically experiment on art and design materials, techniques and processes. Maher V. Varsani employs a rigorous process when originating graphic artworks which involves, idea inception, research, trials and ex*****on in a form best consumed by her targeted audience.

Maher has an unparalleled passion for graphics. She often explores the power of Digital Photography to capture her thoughts. She finds a complimenting hand in her classmates as they team up to create intriguing images of herself and other subjects.

To Maher, learning design is always fun. She is a happy soul full of positive energy and takes every moment as a gift and opportunity to achieve her training goals.

Sean Monde is a critical thinker who discovered that he not only needed to think outside the box, but to throw away the box all together. He creates artworks by deliberately discarding what he terms as “outdated and traditional” notions in image making. Sean considers himself an enemy of any formal artistic constraints commonly depicted in traditional art.

His artistic explorations mainly focus on representing a dynamic vision of the future. Colour, texture, shape and form are the favorite elements of art and design that he applies in his magical masterpieces.

To Sean, typography is fun. His futuristic style heavily influences his typographic layouts as observed in his posters, magazines and branding work. The digital camera, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator are his favorite working tools.

Retreat and Recharge at Kajiado Trip Recap!

Recently, the Academy of Graphic Technologies (AGT) students and staff had an incredible field trip to the breathtaking PEC nature camp in Kajiado. The day was filled with thrilling adventures and unforgettable memories. From soaring through the air on the zipline to some friendly competition with board games, true bonds were formed and people grew together. A mouth-watering late lunch in the stunning natural surroundings helped to fuel everyone’s energy as the evening fast approached.

The adventure provided a perfect opportunity to relax and recharge, away from the usual. There after, it was great to partake in some dance and celebration of the successful journey on the way home.
The trip offered unparalled fun and team bonding. Memories are made of this!😊

Creativity, Consistency and commitment bear artistic competency.

Riddhi Hirani’s artworks cast a formidable artistic force that draws its magical energy from a deep and consistent exploration of colour, shape and form. Her artworks ooze out of an Afro-Asian cultural influence, a collection of her day to day experiences, exposure to published fiction work of other artists and her distinguished love for animals. To Riddhi, it is very normal for a leopard to wear a Masai necklace or a Rhino to wear a Kitenge garment.

The visual intrigues created by a humorous mix of realistic and imaginary subjects only serve to make Riddhi’s work remarkable and unforgettable. She produces fine art illustrations that are well adoptable in her graphic design work like posters as well as in merchadise like T-shirts, Mugs, document holders and tote bags leaving the users proud of her creations. Her work is currently exhibited in AGT gallery as she awaits her graduation ceremony, marking a successful training in BTEC Pearson Diploma in Art and Design.

An exciting Art Exhibition is already up in the AGT’s campus exhibition space. Among the exhibitors is Trusha Patel, a seasoned graphic artist with a strong foundation in fine arts. She is a finalist in the BTEC Pearson, two year Diploma in art and Design. Her work is a culmination of carefully explored colour, shape and textural effects on her artistic subjects. She is a master of all. No media, techniques or material is a foreign concept to her.

Art exhibitions allow artists to learn more about the art of proper installation and presentation. Artists are exposed to a specific audience that sees their creations, appreciate and probably network for future career progressions. The finalists hope to establish the fundamentals for personal branding, breaking ground for future development and public awareness.

The current AGT exhibition is open to the public. It will also be a key attraction for parents and guests during this year’s graduation ceremony scheduled on 15 th December 2023.

Graphic design is all about visual communication. This form of communication requires both strategy and a good eye in visual aesthetics. Designers use images and text to convey an intended message to their audience. Typography, a key area of design practice, is the strategic arrangement of type in order to make written language legible, readable and visually appealing. It is applied in both print and digital outputs.
Dennis Macharia is our outstanding student this week. He strives to perfect the art of typography, certainly knowing it is one of the most important skills every graphic and web designer need to master. His creations using type and letterforms are informed by his “African Identity,” a concept he explores with pride and artistic owe.
Drawing inspirations from culture, Dennis has managed to create typefaces in the display category that he believes add personality to work of graphic design. His interests in Branding, Advertising and Package Design push him to tirelessly experiment to create functional artistic typefaces that will enable his clients to establish strong brands and grow higher brand recognition where consumers can easily visualize their preferred brands’ unique logotype in their mind.

From Trash to Art!
Monday the 13th November 2023 was a national tree-planting day. Reflecting on the importance and impact of such a noble initiative, students in the Academy of Graphic Technologies (AGT) are showcasing some of their works generated using the concept of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle as depicted in these posts. They are using discarded materials as their primary medium. They hope to mitigate against global warming, a move seen as an urgent call for an increased climate awareness and behavioral change on their personal level in the way that they relate to the world they live in.

Artists and designers, by virtual of their work, are among the most destructive agents of our environment. Recycled art comprises of creative productions that make use of waste or discarded objects. Waste materials include plastic, metal, paper, electronic waste, or any other found objects. The students are making functional and aesthetic use of what would, in other contexts, define as waste.

In the world of art, creative work observes a defined process that is expressed through idea generation, exploration, and ex*****on using appropriate mark making skills. Our outstanding student this week is Sarota Reagan, a creative artist who joined the BTEC Diploma in Graphic Design this September.
Sarota Reagan is influenced by his day-to-day life experiences. Certainly, obsessed with modern age technology, his work borders futurism and surrealism as depicted by sporadic movements, emphasis on speed, violence, youthful energy and the industrial city that mostly combine the human image with machines. In addition, he treats dynamic objects in reality as not separate from one another or from their environment. When viewing his artworks, your mind is overwhelmed with a strong symbolic language that subversively represents a continuity of free spirit ideals of present and the past.
Reagan loves to work with pen and ink, coloured pencils and paints. He hopes to advance his art by establishing a formidable artistic style as a key signature of his creations.
