Do this when your hair is rained on

Other text: In the inevitable scenario that, you were caught in the middle of the rain and you wet your hair from the rain, make sure you dry it immediately.
But before you do, wash it with shampoo, apply a leave-in conditioner, and oil it. Do not let your hair that has been wet by the rain to dry on its own without washing.

Keep calm and love your natural hair

Does rain damage your natural hair?
Rain may not necessarily damage your hair but getting rained on can affect your hair in the following ways:
-It causes shrinkage
-It tangles your hair
-Causes unwanted frizz
-Causes product runoff
Avoid getting rained on.
However, if it happens, make sure to dry your hair as soon as you can. This is because the lingering moisture can weaken the roots and allow bacteria to breed in the moist environment.

You should continue to keep a hair care regimen even when your hair is in a protective style.

We recommend shampooing your braids every two to three weeks. After washing it, use a leave-in conditioner followed by oil to seal in the moisture.

16/03/2023

When your hair is in a protective style, it's easy for it to become dry and brittle. Sometimes when our hair is in a protected hairstyle, we forget that it still needs a little TLC.

One of the best ways to get long-term nourishment to your hair while it's in a protective style is with a leave-in conditioner.

Mix some water and the Vatika Leave-in conditioner in a spray bottle and spray your protective style around the scalp area.

How to prevent smelly braids
1. Use Good Products for Your Braids - Make sure to use only the suitable products that won’t leave a build-up.
2. Dry Your Braids Carefully - Take the time to properly dry your natural hair on the scalp, as well as your braids.
3. Be Aware of Infections - This happens when stylists braid too tightly or when the whole process of braiding is not done correctly.
4. Use Good Quality Braiding Hair
5. Wash Your Braids - Washing your braids once or twice a week will ensure they are fresh, clean, and, most importantly, without smells.

Do you have any more tips? Share them with the girlies below.

Which is your favorite protective style?

A protective style gives your hair a much needed break. It keeps the ends of the hair tucked away and minimises manipulation. It also gives the ends of your hair a break from nasty weather conditions.

How often do you wash your natural hair?

Photos from Vatika AfroNaturals-EA's post 22/02/2023

Type 4 hair care tips
-Type 4 hair needs to be deeply conditioned once a week to soften, strengthen, and moisturise the hair.
-After washing, always apply a lightweight leave-in conditioner to ensure that your curls remain soft, hydrated, and voluminous from day to day.
-Protective styling with natural hair extensions will give your hair a much-needed break from daily styling and tension on the hair.
-While straightening your hair, make sure you use heat protectants and don’t go over the same section of hair more than once. Seal your hair with protective oil or serum.

How can you prevent Hygral Fatigue?
Your hair should always have the right balance of moisture and proteins for it to maintain the ideal porosity, as well as healthy and strong strands.
1. Pre-Poo Prep:
Before you get your hair wet, apply a conditioning oil, such as coconut oil, to dry strands. This can help prevent hygral fatigue by locking in moisture.
2. Wear a swim cap:
Wearing a swim cap when swimming can minimize the amount of chlorine that comes into contact with your follicles that might cause hygral fatigue.
3. Shampoo gently:
You should gently massage shampoo into your scalp and let it flow the length of your hair as you rinse.

Have you been using your hair masque correctly?

-Start by shampooing your hair and rinsing it off
-Take any Vatika Hair Masque on your fingers and apply it on your damp hair and massage it in. Apply on the scalp too.
-Leave it for 30 minutes to one hour then wash it off with a sulfate-free shampoo.
-Voila! Your hair is now conditioned and nourished.
