This past Saturday during our tree-planting and food tower initiative 'Mogaka' discovered how to grow bananas on food towers!

It was one of the happiest days of his life!

On a serious note though, we had a great event and once again big shout out to everyone who showed up and made it such a massive success.

In your own little way, within your sphere of influence, find a way of making a change for the better!

Saturday 1st June is D-Day! We are meeting at Jevanjee and riding to Gikambura Primary for our tree-planting and food tower initiative.

Get your bike ready, get your legs ready, join us for this noble conservation endeavour. Madaraka Day Plan sorted!

Planting a tree and growing a tree are two different things. Planting is the simple act of placing a tree seedling into a hole in the ground, covering it with soil, watering it for the first and the last time, and hoping for the best!

Growing a tree, on the other hand, involves nurturing a tree seedling for months and in some cases, even years. It involves protecting the seedling from livestock and other animals; weeding the area around it and adding manure. This is done to ensure that the seedling gets the best possible chance of achieving self-sufficiency and growing into a mature tree.

This is one of the main reasons we plant trees in schools. Schools provide a secure environment where these seedlings can be taken care of on a daily basis.

Join us this Madaraka Day (1st June) as we ride from Jevanjee to Gikambura Primary School, where we will be planting trees and introducing food towers as part of our annual conservation CSR initiative.

Let's all join hands and bikes and make our way to Gikambura for the Grand Nairobi Bike Race annual environmental conservation project.

It's all about planting trees and setting up several food towers within the school compound. We want these children to understand early enough that working with Mother Nature is the only sensible and sustainable way of living on this planet.

We need as many hands as possible for this initiative so this is a call-out to all cyclists and non-cyclists of good will to come on out and join us!

As the months roll on and we get closer and closer to the 2024 edition of Grand Nairobi Bike Race, we can almost guarantee you that the women's category is going to light up like a Christmas Tree!

As you might be aware, one of the initiatives that the Grand Nairobi Bike Race is heavily invested in is sustainable environmental conservation and agricultural practices.

High up on our agenda with regard to this is tree planting and the introduction of food towers in schools. Food towers provide a very sustainable and reliable manner of ensuring food security in school set-ups while making great use of limited space. This goes a long way in safeguarding the nutritional needs of school-going children who may not have access to a regular balanced diet.

The 2023 Grand Nairobi Bike Race saw one of the most inclusive start-lists ever achieved on East Atrican soil. From Kenya to Uganda to Tanzania to Congo To Rwanda to South Sudan! The whole of East Africa as well as several other countries were represented!

For the 2024 edition, we are counting a few months to something even bigger! Will you be ready?
