… Our “little” meetings continue …!

Kijabe Forest Trust just finished a consultative meeting with Kijabe Environment Volunteers to exploring the ways we can share information and do more collaboration.

What did we discover and decide?!!

👉We can develop ecotourism projects to fundraise for forest restoration and capacity building!

👉We can do a sharing training program, for example: a KFT nursery technician can be invited to attend an upcoming training session at Kenvo to learn about bamboo seedlings production which will be offered by KEFRI

💡Always thinking of ways we can help protect and rehabilitate our beloved forest!!

…May 31st was World Parrot Day!

Did you know:

🤓Parrots and the corvid family of crows, ravens, and jays are considered the most intelligent of birds.

💚In the wild, parrots spend the whole day moving around, socialising, and searching for food. There is no time for wild parrots to get bored!

🌱Parrots play an important role in its habitat by helping to propagate the forest. Because not all of the seeds they eat get digested, so they are passed out in the bird’s guano (poo!) over new areas of the forest.

⚠️We all know parrots make good pets but trapping any species of wild bird for the pet trade is a threat to their wild populations. Parrots are protected by CITES making the trade, import and export of all wild-caught parrots totally illegal.
