This Monday, immerse yourself in this riveting Mozambican documentary: 'The Nights Still Smell of Gunpowder' - 'As Noites Ainda Cheiram a Pólvora' that takes us on a journey into the country’s history.

The film, a sensory exploration of personal and collective memory, originates from Inadelso Cossa’s (Director) childhood vacations amid the paradox of the country’s civil war. Motivated by the need to dismantle societal denial, it seeks to unveil authentic stories obscured by fiction and aims to document untold traumas while challenging societal silence.

"Success with this film means I fulfill my duty of memory-making, the mission of documenting a country that needs cinema to heal its traumas." says Inadelso. "Making this film extends beyond the need to satisfy my ambitions as an artist and director. I must recover the memory and undergo emotional therapy to answer questions about Mozambique’s Civil War."

The film dances between truth and fiction, memory and forgetting, and the attempt to confront the haunting ghosts of the past.
After the screening, guests get to interact with the film’s director who will be in attendance.
