A defence for the Christian faith

Yahweh possessed me in the beginning of His way, before his works of old. I was poured out from eternity, from the
first, before the earth was ever made. Even before He made the depths; I was formed, when there were no
fountains abounding with water. Before the mountains were fastened, before the hills I was formed: before He made
the earth, the fields or the highest inhabited parts of the world. When he prepared the heavens, I was present with
Him; when he engraved a circle upon the face of the depth: when He prepared His throne upon the winds: when He
established the clouds above; and when He secured the fountains of the earth: when He gave the sea its decree,
that the waters should not pass His commandment: when He appointed the foundations of the earth: I was by Him,
as workman by Him, I was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him; rejoicing in the world, His earth; and my joy
was with the sons of men. Now therefore hearken unto me, O you children: happy is the man who shall hearken to
me, and the mortal who shall keep my ways; hear instruction, be wise and do not refuse it. Happy is the man that
hears me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoever finds me finds life and shall
obtain favour of Yahweh, but he that sins against me wrongs his own soul: all they that hate me love death.

Where shall we find wisdom? And where is the place of understanding? A mortal has not known its way, neither
indeed has it been discovered among men. The abyss says, “She is not with me.” And the sea says, “She is not with
me.” It cannot be got for gold, neither shall silver be weighed in exchange for it. It cannot be valued with the ore of
Ophir, with the precious onyx or sapphire. The gold and the silver cannot equal it: neither shall vessels of gold be its
exchange. Coral and fine pearl shall not be mentioned: for the price of wisdom is above rubies. The topaz of
Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold. From where then is wisdom found? And where is
the place of understanding? It has escaped the notice of every man, and has been hidden from the birds of the sky.
Abaddon and Death say, “We have heard the fame thereof with our ears.” Elohiym understands the way of wisdom,
and He knows her place. For he surveys the whole earth under heaven, and sees under the whole heaven; all that
He has made; the weight of the winds, and the measures of the waters. When He made them, thus He saw and
numbered them, and made a way for the pealing of the thunder: then He saw wisdom and declared it: He prepared
it, yea, and searched it out. And He said to men, “Behold the fear of Yahavah, that is wisdom, and to abstain from
evil is understanding.”

His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses.
