ALL ABOUT PUMPKINS:
Pumpkins have several nutritional benefits for us.
It is one of the most commonly found vegetables all over the world. It belongs to the Cucurbitaceae family that includes squash (butter nut), cucumber, zucchini, muskmelon, and watermelon.
Pumpkins come in various shapes and sizes depending on the variety, they have a thick and smooth outer skin and the insides are fleshy and fibrous pulp.
The color of the skin varies from white, pale green, dark green, or yellowish orange, while the pulp inside may vary from yellow to orange and some even red.
The pumpkin plant grows like a creeper, a vine that clings to the ground with support provided. While the smaller ones can range anywhere from 2 to 5kgs in weight, the larger ones can weigh as much as 20 to 50kgs and giants ones we above that.
While pumpkin is used in a variety of sweet and savory preparations like soups, baked foods, mashed foods etc pumpkin flowers are also consumed for their unique taste and nutritional benefits!
