The Sponge (AKA - The Drunken Sponge)

Well folks it is with a sad heart that I must put up this post - I am sure most of you have noticed the doors have been closed most nights for the past 4 weeks. Last week Tash and me decided to close the Sponge, permanently. For health reasons I can no longer keep it open.

So if anyone is interested, The Drunken Sponge is for sale and all must go this month.

Items can be purchased separately or as a single lot- $6000

1- 1.25yr property lease with last 6 months free rent (Nov – May: valued at 3K) – (monthly rent $485.00). Could be turned into a nice restaurant, shop or remain a pub - $5,500

1- set (8) rattan tall captain bar chairs with cushions - $100.00
1 - rattan living room set (sofa with cushions, 1 arm chair, 1 coffee table) $100.00
1 - L-shaped (2 piece) brown upholstered western sofa (needs two zippers for cushion covers) - very comfortable. $250.00
1 - ¾ size fridge – with top freezer. $50.00
1 - rattan and woven patio set (round table and 5 chairs) $60.00
1 – 8’ aluminum ladder. $20.00
1 – medium sized red cooler (made in Thailand). $40.00
4 – wall fans - $25/each or all 4 for $80.00

The starting point for tonight's activities is the Irish Place - a darn good Irish pub...if you have not been there yet - well here is your chance!

Hey folks just wanted to keep you loyal sponger's informed as to new operating hours and some important changes - again - no worries Tash and Kate (me) are still here. Cherrybomb has been temporarily closed so that Miles and the Showbox crew can concentrate on saving Showbox from the evil clutches of their landlord. So it will just be the Sponge for a while. So to save on man power, energy costs and staff sanity The Sponge will no longer be open on Tuesday and Wednesday's (unless there is a holiday and I do not have to go to work the next morning!) I will be tending bar on and off for the next few weekends (Friday and Saturdays - including tonight) , the old eclectic, Indy, Alternative, 'drive your own' music style is back and we are still doing Monday Madness! FREE BEER 8:30 - 9:00pm and 11:30pm-midnight. EVERY MONDAY! YAY. Also if you are a teacher - bring in your ID and get a discount on your total bill - everyday, every hour we are open. XX Kate

Spongelites! Mr. Mark is in Paris for the next week or so. Mamasan Kate has, once again, got her claw-like grip on the balls on this St.51 drunken uncle, and will keep in in check and away from the in-laws. Also, given the unavailability on all things vibrating, floppy and funny; I'll be risking life and limb to by smuggling a bag full of di**os back from the city of love. order yours now!

Just another lovely night at the sponge...

So tonight is all hallow's eve...tomorrow the dead will walk among us. For some of you folk - this day is no different than any other day in PP...Sean B... To welcome the dead and honor the King's B-day The sponge will be staying open later than normal for a Tuesday night. Probably 3:00am (unless some of the 'regular' late nighters show up...then maybe dawn) Oh and there is candy... and scary crazy Halloween drink specials. So if you have nothing to do this fine dead filled evening - come on by and visit for a 'spell'

Ohh. Forgot to mention we will be open (8pm - late) this holiday weekend, however we may be closed Monday and Tuesday (I will keep you posted).

Sorry for the silence... Kate is back in the bar-tending chair, we now have a nice new dart board for you spongers to enjoy, we have some newly created freakin fantastic cocktails to taste, and we have an artist corner... what does that mean - folks are encouraged to come by and paint, draw or tag the walls in the back area of the bar. Some art supplies have been provided. We also have some new drink specials!

Oh I should mention - I will be working all night tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday...so come on by and visit. I miss everyone - working during the daytime with only my geckos and wall spiders to talk to sucks!

Ok - so what is happening at the sponge these days...well Thom and Armin have been working during the weekdays while I (Kate) work on all things marketing. Including the building of the Sponge website! I am happy to say - it should be live by the start of next week. At that time - I will be back to tending the bar full time.

Oh yes its ladies night - Oh what a night...at least here at the Sponge. Now for-warning... I (being Kate - the cocktail master) will not be in tonight as I am feeling like death has dropped by for a spot of tea... so our specials for this fine evening normally revolve around tasty "girly" drinks - some with chocolate - but my trusty barman (Thom) and beautiful assistant Armin will be holding down the fort so cocktails may not be up to Kate standards. Best bet - order the beer.

Ok - the daily upload of Sponge drink specials - so if you are in the area - come on down, chill out, and challenge Armin to a game of Jenga (towering blocks)!
