Comin Energizes 50 Schools Solar Projects

Electricity supply remains limited and intermittent in the provinces in Cambodia with frequent interruptions affecting the school’s operation. Comin Clean Energy solutions ensures schools will have alternative and stable renewable supply and will help reduce operating costs.

Comin worked with the Ministries of Education and Rural Development and financing partner Asian Development Bank (ADB) to deliver a total of 50 solar installations across Cambodia. Comin successfully delivered full EPCm services for the projects.

On the 13th of March Comin Khmere, represented by Mr. Neil Hughes, attended and presented at the Switch Garment Midterm Event. The event was graced by H.E. Say Samal, Minister of Environment of the Kingdom of Cambodia and H.E. Carmen Moreno, the Ambassador of the European Union to Cambodia. More than 200 participants including the high officials and representatives of the line ministries, international brands, garment manufacturers, energy service providers, financial institutions and development partners attended the event.

We provided all disciplines engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) for this project to the satisfaction of our client the Express Food Group (EFG).

Comin Khmere also supplied and installed the complete kitchen equipment, logo, signages, art work decorations and other necessary components of the store.

On 24th December 2022 our CK-HSE-CMT team reached over 6 million man-hours without a lost-time or recordable injury. Here’s a message from our CEO, Ivan KEOGH.

It is the first Starbucks store in Laos and we are proud that Comin Laos has been selected for the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, and Kitchen Equipment supply to this project, in the Parkson Mall, Vientiane.

“The project was successfully handed over in September 2022 by our Project Manager Ricardo Dionisio and his team and the store will officially open in Q4 2022”, Yvan Bolliet, the Comin Laos General Manager said.

Every year firefighters are called out to respond to numerous fire incidents around the globe, and every year there are hundreds of thousands of fatalities and life-changing injuries because of these fires. If a fire occurs at home or in the office, chances of survival will depend on how quickly and safely you are able to get out of a danger zone to a safe location.
On annual basis, Comin Asia group offices and site projects have conducted emergency evacuation drills. All employees, staff, workers, subcontractors, and visitors or suppliers are required to take part in the emergency exercise so that they know how to respond during emergency cases. The HSEQ department has arranged to perform the Fire Drill or Emergency Evacuation Drill as mandated by the group management.
This 28th of December 2022, our latest drill was performed. Appointed Floor Wardens from each division or department efficiently evacuated their colleagues to the Assembly Point at the Car Park and they commenced the counting check of their members. All of the employees in CK and PCS Head Office building left their workstations and desks to participate in a calm and correct way. The HSEQ Department then briefed the employees and other occupants with the necessary knowledge on how to effectively respond to an emergency. Practical demonstrations on how to use the fire extinguisher and fire blanket have been conducted for all employees.
Mr. Ivan KEOGH, CEO of Comin Asia addressed all employees and occupants reminding them of the potential dangers associated with Comin Asia activities and the importance to be ready to respond in case of emergencies. Comin is committed to a zero lost time injury target and has committed to continuously assessing and eliminating hazards and risks, protecting workers, and to be always improving OH&S in Comin Asia Group.

Senior Power Talk: Clean Energy and Cambodia's Sustainable Economy" at the National University of Management (NUM). This event during Clean Energy Week 2022 was an excellent opportunity for students to engage with H.E. Keo Rottanak Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and Director General of Electricite du Cambodge (EDC), H.E. Pablo Kang, Australian Ambassador to Cambodia, and Mr. Ivan Keogh, CEO of Comin Asia to learn about Cambodia's effort toward energy transition and the future of the energy sector in Cambodia.

Happy Water Festival 2022, the Comin Khnere office will close on the 7th, 8th, and 9th of November 2022. Wishes all colleagues enjoy this long holiday and be safe.

It’s a very sad time for all at Comin due to the sudden and unexpected death of our Engineering Manager Ernesto Capito, who passed away on Sunday 23rd October 2022.
Ernesto joined Comin in 2006 having already been in Cambodia for over 10 years. He brought a high level of technical expertise and dedication to our clients and to the training and mentoring of our engineering team at our Phnom Penh Head Office and our jobsite offices around the region. As a highly valued colleague we will remember Ernesto through his expertise, team-work and friendly approach to his colleagues. He is someone we always knew to be straightforward, honest and voiced his ideas and opinions with intelligence and integrity. Ernesto was also well known for his love of Cambodia, its people and culture, and his support to numerous charitable events and institutions as well as for his time and effort to support the expatriate community when needed.
He will be sorely missed by all of us at Comin and our deepest condolences go out to his family in The Philippines and his many friends here in Cambodia and around the world.

Congratulations to RMA Cambodia for the opening of the Ford Assembly Plant in Pursat Province. The investment is USD 21 million, will produce 9,000 cars a year, and employ 3,800 people. A milestone in U.S. investment in manufacturing in the Kingdom.

Phnom Penh, April 30th, 2022 – Comin Khmere has set up a
donation to charitable organization Enfants du Mékong or Children of the Mekong (EDM) on the occasion of its 30th
anniversary in Cambodia.
EDM operates across the Mekong region and Southeast
Asia and has been in existence since 1958. Hundreds of
local managers, volunteers, and employees work together in
close partnership with the sole purpose of allowing children
in Southeast Asia to get access to education. EDM supports
underprivileged children and families to give them access to
education, and also works with orphaned children, victims of child abuse, and mentally and physically handicapped children. (www.childrenofthemekong.org)
