This Nonya classic Bubur Cha Cha is always a hit and will get you hooked. The creamy and sweet dessert from the Peranakan culture consists of yam and sweet potato, sago pearls, tapioca balls and sugar cooked in pandan-infused coconut milk.
This is traditionally eaten and served to friends and family during the 15th of the Chinese New Year. But it is now also commonly found all year round. Bubur Cha Cha can be served either hot or cold.
We will be launching some desserts in a few days.
Durian, friend or foe? There are many species that it is an art to eat them and one of these will be served as Durian Mousse - coming to you soon! 😬😆😬

Gula Melaka is made of a budding flower of a coconut palm and used in some desserts at JIA. The smell of this treat is rich and some will find smoky, fried nuts and coffee notes in it as well. The more intense is the smell, the more pure coconut sugar is in it for the base. The taste is super complex, and it will hit you with deep caramel, butterscotch, coffee and smokier note at the back. Sometimes you will also taste chocolate, almond, depending on the date of picking flowers and conditions in the year of growing. It is definitely a healthier option as a sweetener.
