Meet Ms. Fatima Farhat;
Ms. Farhat is a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist who specializes in the treatment of adolescents and families. She is a trained DBT therapist with a focus on DBT for adolescents.

On the occasion of World Alzheimer’s Day (Sept 21), the department of Psychiatry at AUBMC is excited to offer a unique opportunity for you and your loved ones to benefit from our upcoming ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) Workshop designed for Dementia Caregivers running in parallel with a tailored Art Therapy Session for your loved ones with dementia.

ACT Workshop for Caregivers:
Dr. Dinah Ayna will guide you through practical tools and strategies to help you manage stress, anxiety, and other emotional challenges, maintain a balanced life while providing amazing dementia care.

Art Therapy for Participants with Dementia:

While you are attending the ACT workshop, your loved one living with dementia can experience the joy and therapeutic benefits of art through engaging in art therapy session led by Ms Mona Chebaro. Ms. Zaytoun specializes in providing speech and language assessment and intervention sessions. She works with children, adolescents and adults presenting disorders in speech, communication, oral language, written language, fluency and feeding.

Ms. Haddad specializes in conducting comprehensive psychomotor evaluations and providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions for children and adolescents who encounter challenges in motor skills, spatial awareness, attention, memory, executive functions, as well as handwriting quality and speed.

It is important to recognize and address stressors in your life, communicate your needs to others, and establish healthy routines that support your mental health. Remember that prioritizing your mental health is an ongoing process that requires self-awareness, self-care, and seeking support when necessary.

Meet Dr. Shamseddeen,

Dr. Shamseddeen has double American Board in “General Adult psychiatry” and in “child & adolescent psychiatry”. He works with both ages groups and treats all common psychiatric disorders. His reseach interests focus on ADHD diagnostic challenges, and the prevention and treatment of mood disorders.

The session focused on play and its different types, exploring the impact of play on children's development at various levels. It also delved into the intricate relationship between play, learning, and children's wellbeing both at home and at school.

Meet Dr. Evelyne Baroud;

Dr. Baroud is assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at the American University of Beirut and its Medical Center. In addition to evaluating and treating adult patients, she is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, and offers specialized comprehensive clinical evaluation and treatment of Children and Adolescents with a wide range of Psychiatric Disorders, such as Neurodevelopmental Disorders (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, etc), and Mood and Anxiety Disorders, among others.

On Thursday March 28th, 2024;The Mental Health Council in Collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry, AUB Psychiatry Interest Group and Skoun prepared a panel discussion titled: “Cannabis and Young Adults in Lebanon: The Brain, The Data, and Your Legal Rights.”

During this event, Dr. Farid Talih, Dr. Lilian Ghandour, and Ms. Samar Saleh described the effects of cannabis consumption, shared the latest epidemiological findings on cannabis use in Lebanon, and provided a comprehensive overview of the legal aspects surrounding its use.

Dr. Ghossoub is a forensic psychiatrist who conducts evaluations requested by the courts and attorneys. He has training and experience in evaluations on criminal and civil medico-legal proceedings.
Dr. Ghossoub is also an adult psychiatrist and treats a variety of mental disorders.
