Meet Ms. Fatima Farhat;
Ms. Farhat is a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist who specializes in the treatment of adolescents and families. She is a trained DBT therapist with a focus on DBT for adolescents.

On the occasion of World Alzheimer’s Day (Sept 21), the department of Psychiatry at AUBMC is excited to offer a unique opportunity for you and your loved ones to benefit from our upcoming ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) Workshop designed for Dementia Caregivers running in parallel with a tailored Art Therapy Session for your loved ones with dementia.

ACT Workshop for Caregivers:
Dr. Dinah Ayna will guide you through practical tools and strategies to help you manage stress, anxiety, and other emotional challenges, maintain a balanced life while providing amazing dementia care.

Art Therapy for Participants with Dementia:

While you are attending the ACT workshop, your loved one living with dementia can experience the joy and therapeutic benefits of art through engaging in art therapy session led by Ms Mona Chebaro. The session will offer a creative outlet to express emotions, stimulate cognitive function, and foster a sense of accomplishment and connection:

Meet Ms. Maya Zaytoun;
Ms. Zaytoun specializes in providing speech and language assessment and intervention sessions. She works with children, adolescents and adults presenting disorders in speech, communication, oral language, written language, fluency and feeding.

Meet Ms. Maya Haddad,

Ms. Haddad specializes in conducting comprehensive psychomotor evaluations and providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions for children and adolescents who encounter challenges in motor skills, spatial awareness, attention, memory, executive functions, as well as handwriting quality and speed.

Prioritizing your mental health involves making intentional choices to care for your emotional well-being. This can include setting boundaries to protect your time and energy, practicing self-compassion and self-care activities, seeking professional help when needed, and engaging in activities that bring you joy and relaxation. It is important to recognize and address stressors in your life, communicate your needs to others, and establish healthy routines that support your mental health. Remember that prioritizing your mental health is an ongoing process that requires self-awareness, self-care, and seeking support when necessary.

Meet Ms. Hala El Amin,
Ms. El Amin specializes in providing psychotherapy to adults. In addition to the treatment of common psychological problems, she specializes in providing psychological therapy for cancer and palliative patients, their family members, and caregivers.

Meet Dr. Shamseddeen,

Dr. Shamseddeen has double American Board in “General Adult psychiatry” and in “child & adolescent psychiatry”. He works with both ages groups and treats all common psychiatric disorders. His reseach interests focus on ADHD diagnostic challenges, and the prevention and treatment of mood disorders.

Meet Ms. Dina Ayna,
Dr. Dinah Ayna is a clinical psychologist focused on the treatment of severe emotion dysregulation and trauma, and on enhancing staff wellbeing. Dr. Ayna specializes in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

Meet Ms. Anita Al Alam;
Ms. Al Alam is a licensed clinical neuropsychologist. She specializes in conducting thorough assessments, analyzing various cognitive profiles, delving into both strengths and weaknesses to facilitate interventions, and providing personalized support. Her scope encompasses attention deficits, challenges in academic performance, intellectual disabilities, and language development.

Meet Ms. Lara Jalloul,
Ms. Jalloul is a Child & Adolescent Clinical Psychologist, specialized in mood and anxiety disorders, trauma and parental guidance.

On Monday, May 20th, 2024; Ms. Hala Raad gave a session titled "Learning to Play? Playing to Learn? This is the Question!" at the American Community School. The session focused on play and its different types, exploring the impact of play on children's development at various levels. It also delved into the intricate relationship between play, learning, and children's wellbeing both at home and at school.

Insightful session on Supporting Caregivers in Caring for Dementia! Dr. Rita Khoury, Dr. Marc Barakat, and Ms. Saydeh Hammouche shared valuable tips and recommendations on how to provide the best care for our loved ones. Let's spread awareness and support for caregivers in our community. 🌼

Dr. Maryse Hayek, Clinical Psychologist, specialized in addiction disorders and works with anxiety and mood disorders.

Meet Ms. Lynn Dada,
Ms. Dada specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of various mental health struggles, including mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, body image problems, perfectionism, and interpersonal problems.

Meet Dr. Evelyne Baroud;

Dr. Baroud is assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at the American University of Beirut and its Medical Center. In addition to evaluating and treating adult patients, she is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, and offers specialized comprehensive clinical evaluation and treatment of Children and Adolescents with a wide range of Psychiatric Disorders, such as Neurodevelopmental Disorders (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, etc), and Mood and Anxiety Disorders, among others.

Meet Ms. Christelle Germanos;

Ms. Germanos works with children and adolescents experiencing early psychomotor developmental delay, motor, and cognitive difficulties as well as poor handwriting.

On Thursday March 28th, 2024;The Mental Health Council in Collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry, AUB Psychiatry Interest Group and Skoun prepared a panel discussion titled: “Cannabis and Young Adults in Lebanon: The Brain, The Data, and Your Legal Rights.”

During this event, Dr. Farid Talih, Dr. Lilian Ghandour, and Ms. Samar Saleh described the effects of cannabis consumption, shared the latest epidemiological findings on cannabis use in Lebanon, and provided a comprehensive overview of the legal aspects surrounding its use.

Meet Dr. Elias Ghossoub,

Dr. Ghossoub is a forensic psychiatrist who conducts evaluations requested by the courts and attorneys. He has training and experience in evaluations on criminal and civil medico-legal proceedings.
Dr. Ghossoub is also an adult psychiatrist and treats a variety of mental disorders.

Dr. Akoury-Dirani is a Child & Adolescent Clinical Psychologist, she provides clinical care to patients and their families (diagnostic assessment, parent guidance, and child psychotherapy).

Meet Ms. Sara Issa,

Ms. Sara Issa is a clinical psychologist and neuropsychology consultant in the department. She specializes in conducting assessments for children, adolescents, and adults to better understand their cognitive and academic abilities and guide them towards suitable interventions.

Meet Ms. Fatima Abdallah
Ms. Abdallah is a DBT Therapist who works with individuals who have difficulty regulating their emotions, behaviors, thoughts, and relationships. She is trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), DBT-Prolonged Exposure (DBT-PE), and DBT-A for Adolescents and Families.
