When I have time for some mindful eating, I cook my favorite dishes! Perfect for winter and fighting off the flu because of it’s awesomeness of anti inflammatory ingredients! ✨ This is an Indian inspired lentil soup that I have picked up from the food network years ago and still is one of my favorite recipes. ✨ As a mother and I am sure many can relate, there is no time to cook what I like and I find myself stuck in cooking the same meals over and over again so my kids eat what they want! Well not today 🤣! ✨ Here is the recipe for those who want it: 1 cup of shelled red lentils 4 carrots peeled and chopped 1 finely chopped onion 4 cloves of garlic 3 TBS of grated fresh ginger 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 1/2 tsp coriander powder and a A dash of black pepper ✨ Cook with the oil of your preference and purée once the lentils and veggies are well cooked! ✨ Sprinkle your favorite topping! I used black sesame seeds! ✨ Engage all your senses while eating, smelling the aroma, feeling the texture in your mouth, etc… and do it slowly! That’s mindful eating, mindfulness touches everything we do! Let whatever you are eating be a joy and not a punishment! How are you truly feeling? Being mindful with our emotions and honoring them is the way to heal. Here are some tips to help you feel and release them: 1. Acknowledge how you really feel. Don’t be afraid to label your feelings. Are you hurt, angry, nervous, stressed? Know and trust that it’s okay not to feel okay. 2. Address the source of your feelings. So why are you feeling this way? Is it because of something that happened to you or of what someone said or did? Don’t be afraid to communicate how you feel! 3. Stay open. Don’t run away from vulnerability. Be honest with yourself and others and never sugarcoat anything. Be kind to yourself in the process, honor your emotions and allow them to be. 4. Let your emotion run its course. Healing takes time. Your feelings are yours and we need to feel to heal.
