The Sugar Industry was ended in the 1960’s and many of the 18th Century sugar mills fell into ruin. The operation system consisted of a nearby crushing mill, powered by wind, water and animals. In the case of the Troumasée Mill it was powered by a waterwheel approximately 25’0 in diameter with a roller next to the mill. Its walls were constructed of stone probably taken from a nearby quarry.
