কিছু সিনেমা বা সিরিজ আছে যেগুলো দেখতে বসে মনে হয় আমি নিজেই সেই জায়গায় আছি। আমি বোধহয় প্রথমবারের মতো এটা অনুভব করেছিলাম Chernobyl দেখার সময়। এতো অতিরিক্ত পরিমাণে সাফোকেশন হয় আমার যে সেই মূহুর্তে আমি স্ক্রিন অফ করে দিতে বাধ্য হই। সেই প্যানিক আবার শুরু হয় পরশু রাতে The Railway Men দেখতে বসে ! কিন্তু , এবারে আমি নিজেকে একটু নিয়ন্ত্রণে এনে পুরো সিরিজটা শেষ করি। পুরো সিরিজ জুড়ে এক শ্বাসরুদ্ধকর পরিস্থিতির মোকাবিলা করতে হয় সিরিজের কলাকুশলীদের সাথে আমাকেও। কিছু দৃশ্য আছে যেগুলো দেখতে দেখতে দম এতটাই বন্ধ হয়ে আসে যেন মনে হয় আমিও তাদের একজন। মনে হয় যেন, হঠাৎই আমার টাইমলাইনের পরিবর্তন হয়ে এক ঝটকায় ১৯৮৪র ডিসেম্বরের সেই অভিশপ্ত শীতের রাতে পৌঁছে গেছি আমি।
এইসব সিরিজের কোনো রিভিউ হয়না , এটা শুধু মারাত্মক এক দুঃখজনক অনুভূতি যা ভাষায় প্রকাশ করা অসম্ভব প্রায়। ভোপাল গ্যাস ট্র্যাজেডি নিয়ে মোটামুটি প্রায় সব ভারতীয়দেরই কম বেশি ধারনা আছে তাই স্টোরিলাইন নিয়ে আলাদা করে কিছু বলার নেই তবে, এখানে বেসিক্যালি ওই নির্দিষ্ট দুর্ঘটনার দিন ভারতীয় রেল কর্তৃপক্ষ তথা রেল পরিষেবা প্রদানকারীদের ঠিক কি ভূমিকা ছিল সেটাই এখানের মূল বিষয়বস্তু। কিন্তু, এই সিরিজের Main USP হলো এর কাস্টিং। কে কে মেনন, বাবিল, দুই দিব্যেন্দু, মাধবান প্রত্যেকে নিজের সেরাটা দিয়েছেন। কিন্তু স্পেশাল মেনশনে অবশ্যই থাকবেন স্টেশন মাস্টারের চরিত্রে কে কে মেনন , তিনি তার ক্যারিয়ারের অন্যতম সেরা একটা পারফরম্যান্স দিয়েছেন এখানে শেষ কয়েক মিনিট জাস্ট নেওয়া যাচ্ছিলো না এতটাই করুণ লাগছিল ওনাকে দেখতে। এখানে আমি বাবিলের কথাও বলবো একটু, গতবছর Qala তে খুব ছোট্ট উপস্থিতিতে পেয়েছিলাম এতটাই মনে ধরেছিল যে মনে হয়েছিল কবে বেশি করে দেখতে পাবো জুনিয়র ইরফানকে সেই ইচ্ছে পূরণ হলো The Railway Men এ ইমাদের চরিত্রে। অবশ্য, মাঝে আরো দু একটা কাজ দেখেছি কিন্তু উক্ত সিরিজে আলদাই নজর কাড়ে ববিল। এছাড়াও রঘুবীর যাদব, মন্দিরা বেদী, জুহি চাওলা, কে ছোট ছোট কিছু রোলে দেখতে ভালোই লাগে। সাংবাদিকের ভূমিকায় সানি হিন্দুজাও বেশ ভালো।
International Men's Day তে Railway Men একটা সুন্দর উপহার ছিল। সর্বোপরি, প্রায় ৪০ বছর পর এই টপিকে কোনো ভারতীয় সিরিজ এলো শেষ পর্যন্ত।।
