Srikanth Deputy Director General from the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (http://www.ccras.nic.in/ ), Dr. Manoj Nesari, Adviser (Ayurveda), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India (https://ayush.gov.in/), Prof. Tanuja Manoj Nesari, Director, All India of Institute of Ayurveda (https://aiia.gov.in/) and Dr. Geetha Krishnan - Senior Consultant - Representative World Health Organization, Visited the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine - University of Colombo, on 4 May 2024. This meeting was Chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Prof H.D. Karunaratne, University of Colombo, and the meeting was organized by Prof. Pathirage Kamal Perera, Dean. of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine - University of Colombo. All the Heads of the Departments and some of the senior academics. of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine - University of Colombo participated in the meeting. All the parties concerned the future collaboration of UG and PG education and research with the respective institutes and the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine - University of Colombo

The Indigenous Medical Education Unit (IMEU) of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo, has organized a hybrid mode workshop on "Stress Management for Academics," to be conducted by the resource person Senior Professor Piyanjali De Zoysa on the 7th of May 2024, aiming to improve the work-life balance and mental well-being of the academics.

World TB Day is observed annually on March 24th to raise awareness about tuberculosis (TB) and to promote efforts to eliminate this infectious disease. It commemorates the discovery of the bacteria causing TB by Dr. Robert Koch in 1882. This day serves as a reminder of the global health challenge posed by TB and the need for concerted action to control its spread and improve treatment outcomes.

The Career Guidance Unit (CGU) of Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo organized Poster Competition and Public Awareness Programme related to the World TB Day under the theme of “Yes! We Can End TB” at National Ayurveda Teaching Hospital, Borella on 25th March 2024. 60 students (BAMS and BUMS) prepared the posters under the given guidelines and 22 posters were received. Posters were displayed in OPD premises of National Ayurveda Teaching Hospital for the public awareness. The best posters were selected by the evaluation panel.

The World Leprosy Day is observed on every last Sunday of January. This year, in 2024, World Leprosy Day was on the 28th of January. This international day is an opportunity to commemorate people who have experienced leprosy, also known as Hansen’s disease; raise awareness of the disease; and call for an end to leprosy-related stigma and discrimination.

Although World Leprosy Day was observed on the on the 28th of January 2024, the Career Guidance Unit (CGU) of Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo in collaboration with Students’ Committee of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, organized a special event to observe International Leprosy Day at National Ayurvedic Teaching Hospital, Borella on 07th February 2024. The event aimed to honor individuals who have experienced leprosy, raise awareness about the disease among the public and healthcare professionals, and advocate for an end to leprosy-related stigma and discrimination.

The inauguration of the orientation program of the new entrants of BAMS and BUMS degree programs for the Advanced Level 2022 batch students took place on 28th March 2024 at the main auditorium of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo.
The event was graced by Senior Professor (Chair) H.D. Karunaratne, Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Pathirage Kamal Perera, Dean of the Faculty, the Acting Registrar, the Senior Student Counselor, Heads of Departments, and all other staff members and administrative staff.

Expanding the digitally maintained tree stock by the University of Colombo by installing QR codes in the faculty of Indigenous Medicine trees.
Expanding the University of Colombo Digital Tree inventory by fixing QR codes to trees in the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine was held parallel to the “Faculty anniversary celebrations” on the date of 1st of March 2024 with the presence of Senior Professor HD Karunarathne, Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Prof. Pathirage Kamal Perera, Dean Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, Head of the Departments. and other faculty members. This project was coordinated by Professor S.D. Hapuarachchi and the curator of the University of Colombo.

To celebrate the anniversary of our esteemed faculty, an Art competition was organized by the Career Guidance Unit of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo, thrilled to announce the selected arts of students to showcase the diverse talents within our students. Through this competition, CGU serves as a platform for our students to express their creativity through various artistic mediums.
Faculty of Indigenous Medicine takes pride in nurturing well-rounded students prepared for success. We are committed to continuous improvement, embracing challenges, and remaining at the forefront of education and extra-curricular activities. This art competition recognizes outstanding students who showcase their artistic values in the traditional indigenous medical field with the Senior Professor HD Karunarathne, Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Prof. Pathirage Kamal Perera, Dean Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, Head of the Departments. Dr.Himalee de Silva, Coordinator of the CGU, Dr, Saroja Weerakoone, Student Counselor, and other faculty members.
