NILIS is one of the few affiliated institutions of the University of Colombo. NILIS offers Postgradu Under the project 4,000 school libraries were developed.
The National Institute of Library and Information Science (NILIS) was established in 1999 by the NILIS Ordinance. The establishment of the institute was a result of the World Bank funded General Education Project 2, (GEP 2). The purpose of the GEP 2 was to improve the different education sectors in Sri Lanka including the School Library sector. When the World Bank mission was working in close coop
