In a recent Reddit thread, users discovered that Google's Gemini chatbot, formerly known as Bard, provided fictional statistics and outcomes for the 2024 Super Bowl, despite the event not having taken place.

Gemini, powered by Google's GenAI models, mistakenly responded to inquiries about Super Bowl LVIII as if the game had already occurred, showcasing its tendency to generate inaccurate information.

One notable instance includes Gemini's depiction of the game, where it inaccurately favored the Kansas City Chiefs over the San Francisco 49ers, similar to many bookmakers' predictions.

The chatbot's fabricated player statistics further compounded the misinformation, with erroneous details such as Patrick Mahomes supposedly running 286 yards for two touchdowns and an interception, juxtaposed with Brock Purdy's fictitious 253 running yards and one touchdown.

This incident underscores the challenges and limitations associated with AI-generated content, emphasizing the importance of critical evaluation and fact-checking, especially when relying on automated systems for information dissemination.
