The Students of Wycherley International School - Dehiwala participated in meditation and Dhamma discussions fostering spiritual growth and mindfulness in view of Vesak Poya. The event included a serene atmosphere with traditional offerings. This meaningful experience highlighted Buddhist values, promoting peace, compassion and community bonding among students and staff.

As one of the most significant Buddhist festivals approaches, all our students collaborated to make Wesak lanterns, symbolizing enlightenment and peace.

'Green Wave' - Towards Greener Pastures

Project 'Green Wave' aims to cultivate a greener future by engaging students in planting and learning about greenery.
Beyond beautifying spaces, this initiative recognizes the mental health benefits of a plant-rich environment for children. By fostering plant care skills and environmental education, students not only enhance their surroundings but also develop empathy for nature. We encourage the school community including parents to join the movement to sow seeds of positivity and growth, nurturing both plants and young minds.

A day spent at the Bookaroo Children’s Literature Festival!

Recently our grade 4 / 5 students had an enriching experience at the Bookaroo Children’s Literature Festival at BMICH.
From captivating stories to creative art activities, they immersed themselves in a world of imagination.

Throughout the day, our students had ample opportunities to engage with authors, explore storybooks, and express themselves. It was a fantastic blend of learning and enjoyment. We are thrilled to see how these experiences will continue to inspire and shape our young learners. 📖

Religious dignitaries from multiple religions gathered recently to bless our students before their public examinations. Buddhist, Hindu, Christian and Muslim Leaders united offering prayers and encouragement, highlighting spiritual support across faiths for academic success and well-being.

Festivities showcased vibrant traditions, including the lighting of the hearth, traditional games, and shared meals, symbolizing unity and prosperity. It was a joyous occasion which highlighted cultural harmony and communal spirit.🌞

In the spirit of unity, the Ifthar program of the school celebrated cultural diversity, drawing together students from all communities. This communal breaking of the fast not only celebrated the holy month of Ramadan but also fostered a sense of togetherness, highlighting the school's commitment to inclusivity and mutual respect.

Wycherley International School Dehiwala hosted the highly anticipated Annual Sports Meet, showcasing the athletic prowess of students from Playgroup to Grade 12.

The event was a vibrant display of talent and teamwork, with participants competing in various track and field events. Amidst cheers and encouragement from teachers, parents and peers, students exhibited determination, teamwork and sportsmanship, making the event a memorable one.

Parent-Teacher Day for the second term was held successfully on 28th February 2024.
Fostering communication between educators and parents is crucial in order to ensure student success. The Academic staff had an exchange of valuable insights into students' academic progress and behaviour, facilitationg collaboration with parents for student development.

Additionally, the Prefects Guild used the occasion to raise awareness about 'Project Eco' initiated to reduce plastic consumption. They also made sure to emphasize on our social responsibility towards environmental conservation.
We strongly believe that these initiatives contribute to a holistic approach to education and global stewardship.

Our Senior school students eagerly explored Higher Education options at ANC EDU EXPO 2024 hosted by ANC Education. With a number of university options and career guidance advice by industry professionals, the fair provided invaluable insights into various fields. Students engaged in informative sessions, gaining clarity and inspiration for their future endeavours.

Let the fun begin! Our adorable Play Group, Nursery, and LKG kids embarked on an exciting escapade to the Fun Factory Mount Lavinia! 🎉🎠 From giggles on the slides, to joyful laughter in the ball pit and pretend play in the play houses it was a day filled with play, learning and exploration. 🌈🎈

Our students exemplified social responsibility, empathy and generosity when they held hands to make a donation to the HelpAge Sri Lanka Organization.
Their contribution will sponsor cataract surgeries for senior citizens, enabling them to regain vision and improve their quality of life.
Our aim highlights the importance of youth involvement in social causes and promotes awareness about the needs of the elderly.
By demonstrating concern for the less fortunate, students are encouraged to inspire others to embrace their social responsibility and make a positive impact on society.
