About DKS Incubation Centre
Our motivation to get involved in addressing the many challenges face in Liberia such as youth unemployment stem from witnessing firsthand the economic challenges and untapped potential of young people in Liberia. Over time, we have seen talented and ambitious youth struggling to find employment or create sustainable livelihoods due to limited opportunities and resources. These circumstances ignited a deep sense of responsibility within us at the Incubation Center to be a catalyst for change. We believe strongly that empowering young people to become entrepreneurs does not only offers them economic independence; but also contributes to the overall development of our community and nation. Furthermore, we have always been passionate about entrepreneurship as a driver of innovation and economic growth. We firmly believe that when young people are given the right tools, mentorship, and support, they can create innovative businesses that not only generate income for themselves but also solve local challenges and contribute to the broader economic landscape. The desire to see our community thrive, coupled with our passion for entrepreneurship and youth empowerment, have been the driving force behind our involvement in addressing youth unemployment. Is it worth it to start your own business?
Business owners are much happier with their work-life than employees. A study shows that Entrepreneurs and self-employed individuals have substantially higher level of job satisfaction (78%) versus employees who are less satisfied with their work-life (53.7%).

Budget forecasting and planning
Once you create your first budget, begin to use it and get a good feel for how it can keep your finances on track, you may want to map out your spending plan or budget for 3 to 6 months or even up to a year. By doing this you can easily forecast which months your finances may be tight and which ones you'll have extra money.
With this knowledge, you can find ways to adjust the highs and lows in your finances so that things can be more manageable and pleasant.
Extending your budget out into the future also allows you to forecast how much money you will be able to save for future investment in such things like a new vehicle, a new home, or home renovations, or retirement.

Creating meaningful socioeconomic impacts

Today, the team at GoLocal and its DKS Incubation Centre met with Joy Kolin, Founder of Giving Joy Grants to discuss the implementation of our Enterprise Development Training with support from Giving Joy Grants and how we can forge collaborative efforts to empower women and girls through entrepreneurial education and business development training. We are grateful that we can benefit from these microgrants.

A budget is simply a spending plan that takes into account estimated current and future income and expenses for a specified future time period, usually a year.
Having a budget keeps your spending in check and makes sure that your savings are on track for the future. Budgeting can help you set long-term financial goals, keep you from overspending, help shut down risky spending habits, and more.

Creating this spending plan allows you to determine in advance whether you will have enough money to do the things you need to do or would like to do.

We are indeed excited to announce to the public that GoLocal has won a $500.00 USD Giving Joy Grants Micro-Grant to conduct an “Enterprise Development Training” for women and girls in Liberia.

The training will be conducted by the DKS Incubation Centre. The project seeks to undertake the following activities: Enterprise development training – to build the capacity of 50 entrepreneurs and businesspeople (women and girls) with potentially viable business ideas; and minimum viable products to start new businesses and upscale their business management practice. The project will support the creation of new job opportunities, raise income, and reduce poverty and unemployment among women. The project will also nurture, mentor and provide exposure to participants through field excursion, and peer-learning and will accelerate business growth.

The second component of the project will focus on Setting up the DKS Startup Lab – to provide a dedicated co-working space with internet at no cost. There, female ideation, startups and early-stage business owners will come to develop clear business models that work, validate their business ideas/concepts, pilot-test their products or services to determine their fit for the market, and where entrepreneur can bring their idea to life and launch new ventures with confidence.

Although this is a micro grant, we are convinced that it is going to create a macro impact on the Liberian society.

We are so proud of this win.
Importantly, we are thankful to our donor, Joy Grants for finding us capable, and entrusting us with the tasks of empowering women with the knowledge, skills and tools needed to transform their lives. We are also grateful to our team for the dedication and hardwork. This is just the beginning of many great achievements.
