🎤 Last year, a devastating incident took place in Okhtyrka, Sumy region of Ukraine, where the only power plant in the region that produced heat was hit by Russian bombs. Having doubts about the possibility of reconstruction of the old power plant, together with partners, the Czech power equipment manufacturer RSE s.r.o., our team took quick action and built a new biomass boiler plant with a capacity of 40 MW in less than 4 months. RSE s.r.o. called in construction and installation specialists and completed the project in record time. This outstanding achievement makes it probably the fastest project of its kind ever completed, as such projects typically take up to a year.
⚡ Renewable biomass was the best choice for this project because, unlike solar and wind power, which are intermittent and dependent on weather conditions, local Ukranian biomass can be stored and used as needed, making it a more reliable source of renewable energy. Biomass power can be used for baseload power generation, which means it can produce a constant amount of power day or night, unlike solar or wind energy, which are variable. What is more, biomass energy can be produced from a variety of sources, including waste products from forestry, agriculture, providing flexibility in terms of fuel supply.
⭐ As the equipment supplier for this project, AXIS Tech was responsible for providing everything needed to power the plant. We managed to carry out remote control of the installation, start-up, and maintenance works of the energy equipment required for burning biomass and producing heat, despite the difficult circumstances.
🔥 The Sumy biomass boiler plant is a landmark project for AXIS Tech, as it required us to adopt new work processes and innovative approaches to deliver the project remotely while still maintaining the highest quality standards. It has been an invaluable learning experience for our team.

👋 Did you know that biomass combined heat and power (CHP) plants are a sustainable and cost-effective way to generate electricity and heat?
👉 During the combustion process, an oxidation reaction takes place, resulting in high-temperature combustion products, reaching 900 – 1000 oC. With such a high combustion temperature, using it only to heat water is inefficient. Therefore, it is always better to produce steam that can produce electricity and use the remaining heat to water heating.
👍 Biomass CHP plants use organic matter, such as wood chips or agricultural waste, to produce both electricity and heat simultaneously. This technology is an excellent option for companies looking to reduce their carbon footprint and save on energy costs.
👌 AXIS Tech has implemented successful biomass CHP plants across the Europe. So, if you're looking for a sustainable and efficient way to generate energy, biomass CHP could be the answer you're looking for.

🤔 Hi, everyone! Have you ever heard of the multicyclone? No, it's not a superhero, but it is a unique piece of equipment that removes particulates from gas streams. It's an excellent solution for biomass boiler plants, power plants, agriculture, and more sectors.
👉 Multicyclones use a method called cyclonic separation, which is a process of removing particulates from air, gas, or liquid streams without the use of filters. This is achieved through vortex separation, using rotational effects and gravity to separate mixtures of solids and fluids.
🌪 The multicyclone is made up of separation elements arranged in rows. As gas flows through the separation element, blades direct the flow in a spiral path. Inertial particles are separated from the gas stream by inertial forces and fall into the ash collection hopper, where they can be removed through the ash dispenser.
⭐ Now that you know more about multicyclones, if you're interested in learning even more about biomass energy equipment, don't hesitate to contact us at AXIS Tech. We're always happy to share our expertise and help you find the right solutions for your needs.
🤩 Who needs caffeine when you've got some electrifying news like this?! AXIS Tech has signed an agreement with AB „Kauno energija“ Energija for the installation of an absorption heat pump with second-stage flue gas condensing economizer and other necessary equipment in the Jurbarkas boiler house, Lithuania.
🔥 Our team will design and build a second-stage flue gas condensing economizer with a 700 kW absorption heat pump and additional equipment at the existing biomass boiler house of Jurbarkas, thereby increasing the efficiency of the boiler house by ≥0.7 MW.
👓 Our engineering expertise and proposed solutions made it possible to significantly reduce the cost of the project and to fit into the tender budget. The main benefit that customer will receive after implementing the project is the overall energy efficiency of the existing boiler house which will be improved by around 9%, so heat will be significantly cheaper for consumers in Jurbarkas.
👏 We have already worked on a similar project with Kaunas Energija in Kaunas, at the Petrašiūnai biomass boiler plant, and we are thrilled that the customer has once again expressed their trust in our company. We thank the entire team who contributed to the sale of this project and wish the project department success in the implementation of the project!“

👁 Adapting biomass-burning devices to sustainable electricity production is currently a particularly important topic. PhD Aleksas Jazdauskas, Head of R&D department of AXIS Tech, shares his experience assessing the increase in electricity production from renewable biomass: “During the combustion process, an oxidation reaction takes place, resulting in high-temperature combustion products and reaching 900 – 1000 C. With such a high combustion temperature, it is inefficient to use it only to heat water. Therefore, it is always better to produce steam that can be used to produce electricity and use the remaining heat to water heating.”
Since biomass is a renewable energy source, it does not generate additional CO2. In addition, biofuels enable the use of local resources, and thus independence from gas or other fossil fuels, which is particularly important in the face of the current unstable political situation, when energy resources have become an element of manipulation for states.
⚡ When assessing the installed capacity of a cogeneration plant, it is necessary to estimate the demand for thermal energy for heating the city and the need for water heating: “The investment is most economical when the devices can operate all year round. In the case of a medium-sized city with 50,000 to 100,000 inhabitants, the temporary demand for heat in the summer ranges from 10 to 20 MW. Therefore, the most effective investment is the construction of a 20-25 MW biomass boiler. An installation of such capacity will be able to produce about 5-6 MW of electricity in winter, and in summer it will satisfy the city’s demand for hot water by producing about 1-2 MW of electricity,” said PhD A. Jazdauskas.
⭐ The basic parameters of the biomass-fired CHP boiler and steam turbine should be selected as high as possible. A. Jazdauskas advises that when estimating the investment, it is most economical to choose a pressure of 40 – 60 bar and a temperature of 400 – 490 C. The coefficient of electricity and the entire steam boiler energy produced by devices with such parameters is > 0.25. Contact us for more information about CHP plants!
🎉 Woohoo! Today, we are proud to mark a significant milestone in our journey - 25 years of delivering reliable and sustainable biomass energy solutions to European communities.
