DAY 2

A descendant of Alite Jews Marshall Berry arrived in Alytus from US to join our work camp. He delivered a very emotional speech that everyone needs to hear.

“This represents all the lives of people who did live here peacefully. I think it is important just to commemorate their lives and who they were. They are just like you and me. They are no different. They had dreams, they had friends. They did things day in and day out. Then they passed away. They were buried. And probably a lot of these are family members together. I do not know. I think it symbolizes our humanity to do this. I think it is important we do this to memorialize and commemorate their lives. And so they remind for all of us – not let that happen again, World War II. This is natural, I think, for us living and dying. World War II, the pyramids – very bad.”
