SMK College of Applied Sciences, in cooperation with the project applicant NFQ.LT, has commenced the implementation of an EU investment project designed to help minimise “empty miles” in transportation (situations, when a truck is going from point A to point B without any cargo). 🚚

SMK researchers in cooperation with NFQ team will work together to develop an automated 🚚 route analysis and compatibility platform geared towards simplifying negotiations over high commercial value, high probability contracts.

This AI-driven model will generate contract scenarios with prices high enough to make cargo handling profitable, and low enough to outcompete rival proposals. In addition, it will automate spot load suggestions based on a truck’s ETA, and minimise empty miles, resulting in higher margins and fewer emissions.

The project’s total value is €3,534,285. EU funding - €1,994,999, while the remaining €1,539,286 is covered by the NFQ and SMK. Launched in June, 2024, and is expected to be completed by June, 2026. The project is implemented under the development program's progress instrument No. 05-001-01-05-07.

SMK Celebrates 30 Years of Meaning! ✨

SMK College of Applied Sciences, a private higher education institution established in Klaipėda in 1994, which later opened branches in Vilnius and Kaunas, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year! 🎉 SMK presents a visual campaign for the 30th anniversary, marked by a totem inviting change.

"The metamorphosis of the totem symbolizes the change that SMK continually invites people to embrace. The color scheme of the campaign also reflects SMK's identity, based on bright symbols and a clearly expressed position. This harmony of colors demonstrates the courage to act and speak," says Gabija Skučaitė, co-founder and chancellor of SMK, introducing the campaign created especially for the anniversary.

The 30th anniversary of SMK will be marked by various events and artistic creations that, by their nature, forms, and characteristics, will reveal what SMK is - a space to create and be a creator. 🎓🧡
