For the second year in a row, Vilniaus kolegija is organizing an on Applied Research, Experimental Development and Innovation for a more effective impact on regional development! ✨🤩

This year's event was organized in cooperation with the Research Community of Practice (ResCoP) of the EURASHE association, which has been actively involved in the implementation of the training week programme and thus reinforces its contribution to the shaping of the European Research Area from the perspective of professional higher education. Representatives of the Lithuanian Research Council, the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport and the social partners of Vilniaus kolegija also shared their experiences.

🌎40 researchers from 22 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America took part in the International Staff Training Week. In their feedback, the participants highlighted the relevance of the topics, the professional organization of the week, the welcoming atmosphere of the event, and the excellent conditions for communication and cooperation.

The International Staff Training Week is one of the strategic events of Vilniaus kolegija for the implementation of internationalization and the fostering of research and development.

In total, the number of foreign citizens living in Vilnius has increased by more than 35 000 over several years. Today as many as 71 000 residents in the capital of Lithuania are foreigners. The majority of those who have started living in Vilnius are skilled professionals from Western Europe and the USA as well as war refugees from Ukraine.

The increasing number of foreigners living in Vilnius is due to several factors, but mainly due to the targeted policy of attracting foreign talent and investment from Western Europe and the USA. According to the recent data from Vilnius Tourism and Business Development Agency Go Vilnius, as many as 80% of foreigners living in the capital of Lithuania are citizens of neighboring countries, 5% come from Europe, and 2% from the UK or the USA.
