The team from Mykolas Romeris University which comprised of students of the Law School participated in the Philip C. JESSUP International Law Moot Court Competition from March 31 to April 7, 2024, which was held in Washington (USA). Philip C. JESSUP is a competition of public international law that has been held since 1959. This year, 143 universities from more than 80 countries participated in the international competition rounds. It is the largest and most deeply rooted competition for law students in the world. The competition consists of two parts: written and oral. In the written part of the competition, the participants must prepare two procedural documents (the claim and the counterclaim), and during the oral part, each team has 45 minutes to present the arguments. The teams are judged by current and former judges of the International Court of Justice, specialists experienced in the field of international law and professionals working within this field. 🇱🇹 Today marks the 105th anniversary of the raising of the Lithuanian flag at the Gediminas Castle tower and the Lithuanian Flag Day. "The Lithuanian Flag is a precious symbol of the free Lithuanian state. We celebrate the Flag Day of Lithuania with respect, remembering all those who have fought for an independent Lithuanian state, for the right to build the future of their homeland on the land of their ancestors. Our Flag is our unity, solidarity, our historical memory and communion," says Prof. Dr. Inga Žalėnienė, Rector of Mykolas Romeris University, congratulating the MRU community on the Lithuanian Flag Day.

8-9 December The 2nd International Scientific Conference "Sustainable Development Strategy: Global Trends, National Experiences and New Goals" was organised by Mingachevir State University (Azerbaijan) together with Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) and 5 other universities (Ankara Haci Bayram Veli University, Turkey, Gazi University, Turkey, Kayseri University, Turkey, Kyiv National University of Trade and Design, Ukraine, Kyrgyz Economics University, Kyrgyz Republic). Addressing the conference participants, Prof. Dr. Inga Zalenyene, Rector of MRU, noted that this event is a unique platform to share and discuss common challenges, achievements, plans and recommendations for more effective and timely implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN 2030 Agenda. "By working together, we can create solutions that are not only economically sound, but also environmentally sustainable and socially meaningful. We can foster a culture of innovation that transcends national borders and becomes a benchmark for international partnership," said Prof. Dr. I. Žalėnienė The conference featured presentations of key research findings, scientific discussions on global trends in sustainable economic development, ensuring environmental stability and the compatibility of socio-economic development goals with sustainable development goals.
