In solidarity and in support of the Ukrainian people, which are fighting for their freedom and liberty in the unprovoked war started by the Russian Federation, the Board of the Norwegian Chamber of Commerce in Latvia(NCCL) last night in its monthly board meeting decided to donate 1000 EUR of NCCL funds in support of the Ukrainian people.

No money can restore lost human lives and reduce the ongoing suffering caused by the Russian agression, but it is important to assist Ukrainians and help them avert worsening of the humanitarian crisis. In a symbolic way NCCL, which itself operates as a non-profit organization, wanted to convey that we support Ukrainians not only in words, but also in deeds, inviting others to join the cause!

NCCL has already transferred the funds through " " campaign launched by .lv, which affirms that ALL the donated money reaches 100% for its intended purpose.

In a letter to NCCL members, the Chairman of the Board Matiss Kukainis wrote: "Latvian business environment can only be prosperous, if we live in a safe and stable world that respects the rights of democratic countries. In these times of relentless Russian aggression, I strongly urge each of you to discuss with your company, how you can help Ukraine, and for you to individually contact your government officials, and voice your concern over Russia's aggression in Ukraine. If Russia takes or destabilizes Ukraine, the conflict will potentially spill over its borders. Ukraine is our front line, and Ukrainians are not only protecting their freedom and country, but Europe's as well," says M. Kukainis, Chairman of NCCL Board and partner at Advokātu birojs "Spīgulis & Kukainis".

Many NCCL members, including , Visma, , Gjensidige Latvija, Narvesen, Circle K, Tietoevry Latvia, Tilde, UnitedPress Printing Group Tipogrāfija Trykkeri Tryckeri and others, have already taken steps at a company level to support Ukraine and Ukrainians!

The Norwegian Ambassador to Latvia H. E. Kristian Ødegaard joined the board meeting as a guest and provided an update that there are no immediate direct threats to Norway or Latvia, but that we should stay vigilant, especially as we observe increased activity in cyberspace.
