From morning bread to delectable tajines, we're high on quality, homemade taste and using fresh, organic ingredients whenever possible. It's one small way that Dar Kawa contributes to a healthier, eco-friendly mode of living – appreciating traditional methods of production and immersing ourselves in the human-scale and humanely paced. Easy enjoyment does it. And thanks to our long time, amazing chef Saida, it's oh so so so delicious.

Even though it's high season, occasionally there are unexpected openings in our calendar for a last minute escape. Roll the dice, take a peek, and see what materializes before your very eyes. Maybe first this beautiful courtyard, patio, which we can never get enough of. Then an alley into the Medina, leading you further to the souks, and next thing you know, you're magically in Marrakech!

Since more than 20 years Valérie designs handmade timeless and quality home linens in Marrakech. All these textiles are taken care of, with a lot of attention, by Khadija who cleans, irons, folds, checks,... after every departure of our guests.
We think that the first service of a hotel is to have comfortable bed facilities and we pay attention to ours. At Dar Kawa every bed has 4 pillow cases, a bed sheet, duvet cover and a bedcover. All made of fine combed and mercerized cotton.
The pleasure also to appreciate the extended variety of our linens if you stay long. All bedrooms and suites have different stories.

At Dar Kawa, there is always something new going on. Sometimes it is visible at the first glance but sometimes you feel something is different and you don't see what...
Well, In Baboune double room we have revamped the whole bathroom. Last summer we broke it down completely and rebuilt it from scratch. We used traditional zellij, handmade " ceramic tiles. Same color as before but a different and smaller shape.
After so many years in Marrakech we still appreciate and admire the beauty of traditional handcraft. We also feel so lucky to be able to use and integrate it in our daily life.

Valerie Barkowski, creative director and designer, traveler from here and elsewhere who invents and assembles by following her moods. Respectful of tradition and know-how, she has always worked with artisans creating textiles and objects with a soul and a history, which travel through time by their authenticity.
Dar Kawa is her home. She restored, shaped, modulated the house according to her desires and inspirations. You will find her own designs and notice that every detail of the house has been taken care of. In Dar Kawa, certain memories coexist, like those of the Sahart foundation. Paintings, photographs, traces of artists who have stayed there.
Here, you live with the seasons, wandering from the terrace to the patio in summer and living close to the open fire in winter. The table also metamorphosis during the year using local and seasonal products cooked delicately by Saida. We take time to taste healthy ingredients, assembled according to the principles of Moroccan cuisine. We can enjoy a book, a mint tea or a siesta in the shade. One can also go through the Spa of the house for a personalized massage, to live life simply.
Dar Kawa is more than a hotel. It is a house where Valerie Barkowski and her staff welcome you with warmth and kindness … Welcome.
