Art for Peace

Our intention is to ground ourselves in creative practice to be responsive instead of reactive.

Alexandria is a familiar member of the Art for Peace gathering on Zoom. This is one of the art pieces she made during a meeting in March:

The lines are eyeliners, lip liners, and old makeup. The image reminds me of the painted hills, the different geological eras. I wanted to give a second life to these products that I could not use during Covid. They also have a spiritual feel to me, because this is just another reincarnation for the minerals they are made of.

The best way to understand art therapy is to experience art therapy. Joan, Barbara’s mother, is an accomplished artist who is seen here painting with egg tempera. But Joan truly began to understand her daughter’s vocation as an art therapist when she started regularly attending and participating in Art for Peace, an open studio community group.

Join us on Friday, 6-9pm CST, to connect with the art therapy community, and feel free invite a friend or family member to show them the power of art therapy.
