Working with Veranda Youth Community Cafe for the past 6 months has been a beautiful journey and a great accomplishment for all of us. As their Restaurant Development Advisor we worked together as a team to improve the capacity of Verandas staff and increase profit earning opportunities. We developed a new menu, did customer service training, Food and Beverage Training with a focus on Food Hygiene, Prep/ Storage, Knife Skills and Food Plating. We developed new marketing materials for further outreach and improved their social media presence and skills! I can say that I left a PROUD trainer as I saw the staff use their new knowledge and skills to produce more beautiful, fresh and professional looking dishes. Their enthusiasm, passion and humour made working with them an absolute pleasure!
I've now officially moved to Yangon and started teaching and training again in the form of my new social enterprise start-up Cook Well, Live Well!
If you're a restaurant needing some guidance, advice or staff training feel free to send me a message!
Great tips for food storage without plastic, also most of these ways are MUCH better for preserving vegetable shelf life! Keep your veggies fresher for longer and help the environment 🙂
We did it before plastic, and we can do it again. 👏🏾

Meal Prep Sunday!
-Curried Chickpeas- West Indian style
(adds protein to any dish in the week)
-Zucchini Ratatouille
(making a big pot of this is a great way to add a ton of veggies to your plates throughout the week. This morning I'm cooking up some eggs and adding a bit of ratatouille on top for a veggie boost!)
-Fresh Homemade Hummus
(super easy, and a great dip for veggies or spread for a wrap during the week to add some protein)
Basic knife Skills workshop with the Youth from .ycc. Learning about different knives and their purpose, knife handling safety and of course how to cut: Julienne, Batonnet, Small Dice, Brunoise Dice and others!

Baking 101: Homemade bread. A workshop with the youth of Veranda on how to make bread 🍞. They learned although there are not many ingredients and it all sounds easy, it's a lot of work the first time! Everything takes practice. I think they did great on their first try, what do you think? @ Veranda - Youth Community Café
