Here is Mr. Jangsei offering a word of thanks for his cataracts surgery, which was done last November. He was completely blind in both eyes for two years. Thank you to everyone who donates to MyHope so that we can help people like him. Here is the rough translation of his words: "Hello, Dr Palal, I am so thankful that I regained my eyesight! With the financial help I received, I could go to Monyaw Town and get eye surgery in November, 2023. Now I can see! I can also get around in the village. I can also read my Bible. The church's elders gave me a great opportunity to speak and share the Gospel and about my healing from my eye surgery. I am so thankful to the Christians in America who donated funds for my eye surgery. I am praying that God would continue to bless you and America."
Our HBS students are all very hard workers. The Kuki people are the hardest working people I have ever met. They do not shrink from a difficult job - whether old or young, male or female, they all work their hearts out. I am so proud of our students for pitching in and helping with the demolition work! Their help saves us a lot of time and money, too. I am constantly humbled by the Kuki people, and Palal and Kikim are such great examples to us all.
I never thought I'd see this building come down, but I'm really excited to see what will take its place!
I'm going through old pictures and videos for a presentation. Watching these still bring tears to my eyes when I remember the times we spent worshiping and praising God at our first few conventions in Kalaymyo. Such wonderful memories. Some context: Mrs Nyo Lah and her husband Myint Aung are converts from Buddhism. He contracted leprosy years ago and lost both his hands, some of his feet, and most of his eyesight. It also left him frail, weak, and sickly. Prior to our convention, he had burned himself several times because he was getting too close to the fire to stay warm. Since he had no feeling in his extremities he would easily burn himself and not know it, leading to infections. He was unable to attend our convention in kalaymyo, but his wife came and requested food for her and her husband. He could not work, and she was trying to care for him, her elderly father-in-law, and herself by weaving and selling bamboo baskets. It was not bringing in enough income for food, let alone medical care. On top of all that, their old hut was literally falling down and they had no way to make any repairs. We decided to take up a love offering for her, and that is what this video is all about. The video has been edited and cut down in length, but the love offering went on for over 10 minutes. The people attending the conference were all poor, and many also lived in extreme poverty, but like the Macedonian Christians, they gave out of their own poverty in order to help others. I hope this video touches your heart in some way, and that you too will want to give from your heart to help those living in poverty in Myanmar.
