Malta Crafts Foundation The Malta Crafts Foundation is a public organisation dedicated to enabling the preservation, appreciation and sustainability of Maltese artisanal products and skills.

Our village feasts are a prime example of the artistic skills and creativity of local artisans!

Festa Lwien is also an opportunity for around 55 artisans to showcase their amazing talents, whether they are resident artisans at the Ta’ Qali Artisan Village opening up their workshops, or other visiting artisans who will be setting up their stalls along the streets of the village during this feast!

Children playing in the streets may be a distant memory for some villages, but Festa Lwien is keeping that tradition alive at the Ta’ Qali Artisan Village!

From traditional games such as ‘passju’, ‘lastku’, ‘pass ta’ nemla, pass ta’ ġgant’, musical chairs, potato race, sack race, and walk on wood; to a kids’ area complete with bouncy castle and face painting, Festa Lwien will be providing entertainment for the younger ones too! 🏰

What would a feast be, without any music and entertainment? 🎉

Festa Lwien will provide fun for people of all ages, including traditional Maltese music from Ta’ Verna Folk Band and accordionist Joseph Grima, more contemporary sounds from Bernie & Pod, as well as sketches from popular comedian duo Danusan, who will also animate the evening.

If you want to try your luck, Ġorġ tad-Donuts will also be organising a tombola in another area of the Ta’ Qali Artisan Village (minors under 18 years of age are not allowed to play).

New branding for Malta’s Artisan Villages The Maltese Islands have two artisan villages, one in Ta' Qali, Malta, and another in Ta’ Dbieġi, Gozo

A new brand for the Artisan Villages in Malta was launched by the Hon. Minister for the Economy, EU Funds and Lands Silvio Schembri during the inauguration of the Incubation Centre within the Ta’ Qali Artisan Village.

The brand will serve as an important tool in the promotion of the artisan villages, both locally and abroad. Its concept is inspired by tradition, but looking ahead towards the future, reflecting the energy, dynamism, and multi-dimensionality of the entire artisan sector in the Maltese islands.

The inauguration of the Incubation Centre is another milestone in the regeneration of the Ta’ Qali Artisan Village. Among other facilities, it will house an office for INDIS Malta and the offices of the Malta Crafts Foundation, as well as space for the provision of workshops to encourage more people to explore the world of crafts.

The colourful creations of carnival took over the Ta' Qali Artisan Village, with carnival floats, maskeruni, and dancers' costumes creating a beautiful atmosphere among the artisans within the village and in the stalls aligned along the streets.

An integral part of local carnival celebrations are the dance performances, with their colourful costumes often being masterpieces in artisanal textile production.

Carnival Creations, the carnival-themed event being held on Saturday, February 11th, will also comprise dance performances in the main square of the Ta’ Qali Artisan Village at 16:30h, 17:00h, 18:00h, and 18:30h – don’t miss them!

While all artisans at the Ta’ Dbieġi Artisan Village will be open during Express Your Love with a great choice of artisanal products that would make a great gift for Valentine’s Day, The Perfume Studios will be taking advantage of the event to launch their new, limited edition perfume: So Loved! They’re also offering a free gift with every purchase, so make sure to visit and get a whiff of their scents!
