Located near Balluta Beach in St Julian’s, The Malta Marriott Hotel & Spa recently underwent a complete refurbishment, seamlessly blending luxurious charm with a Mediterranean spa ambiance.

SAW was entrusted with furnishing all 320 guest rooms, which involved providing fire doors, bathroom sliding doors, vanity units, headboards for sofa beds, and other amenities such as curtains and carpeting.

Additionally, SAW played a key role in furnishing all of the hotel’s public areas, including the reception and lobby, restaurants, bar counters, parquet flooring, bench seating, and timber slatted soffits. The project encompassed the installation of wall cladding and the supply of chairs and tables used throughout the hotel’s public spaces.

Tanizaki’s Shadows, a holiday retreat in Gozo, draws inspiration from Japanese aesthetics influenced by Junichirō Tanizaki’s renowned essay, "In Praise of Shadows," offering a serene sanctuary with breathtaking views of Mġarr Harbour.

Designed by the esteemed Maltese architect Chris Briffa, the project involved the integration of fitted joinery, wall cladding, and various loose furniture items throughout the property. With amenities such as an internal garden, three double bedrooms, a spacious kitchen and living room, and an outdoor terrace, it epitomises contemporary comfort and sophistication.

This five-star hotel in the heart of St Julian’s in Malta is one of the most luxurious and popular hotels on the island, boasting an executive lounge, three restaurants, four bars, four outdoor pools, two children’s pools, and a heated indoor pool area.

SAW was entrusted to complete Hilton’s 350-room project, including its executive lounge, within a record time-frame. This involved the production and installation of the entire project.

Kebony deck boards were used in the external areas of the property, finished in oak for a raw effect.

The La Falconeria hotel is located in a historical building in Valletta, built during the rule of the Order of the Knights of St John. While the front side of the building dates back to the Renaissance, the other half was destroyed during the Second World War and subsequently rebuilt. SAW’s role involved maintaining the hotel’s traditional aesthetic, while providing high-specification soundproofing and protection against natural elements.

The façade of the hotel features traditional Maltese balconies on the higher floors, open balconies for the hotel suites and a 35m2 terrace as part of the Executive Suite. SAW sourced and imported traditional timber apertures which are certified to provide full soundproofing and protection against harsh weather. Joinery items, doors, cladding and loose furniture for restaurants, rooms and balconies were also supplied by SAW.

The Hotel Valentina is a family-run hotel located in Malta’s entertainment capital. SAW was involved in furnishing a total of 132 rooms across eight floors. Each room is fully equipped with ultra-modern furniture and mod cons, while maintaining a contemporary and modern flair. As part of the project, SAW produced different patterned veneers with Corian tops, upholstered headboards and bedding, desks, Frigo bars, wardrobes, and shower partitions.

The team also produced and installed doors throughout the building, including interior doors, swing doors and fire-rated doors. Wall cladding for public areas, the library, pool area bar and external canopy were also manufactured and installed
by SAW.

Our equipment through multiple filtration stages ensures that no fumes are emitted into the environment.

As part of the Hyatt Regency Hotel project, SAW was also responsible for furnishing Seed Restaurant. The interiors are bold and eye-catching, using natural and fresh materials that lend a unique aesthetic to the location.

Seed Restaurant features a ribbed wooden soffit that extends down to the walls. This design was created within the SAW factory, using automated machinery for cutting and processing raw materials, as well as manual craftsmanship to customise the design. SAW also produced the seating for the restaurant, loose tables and chairs, and rounded cladded columns.

After half a century of neglect, ‘The Gut’, an area of Valletta’s infamous ‘Strait Street’ has undergone a full transformation. The rejuvenation project sought to elevate the street’s reputation by offering a lavish gastro-retail experience. Moreover, it aimed to maintain the architectural integrity of the original buildings and bring the 1920s’ nightlife spirit into the modern world.

Reference to the notorious hot spots such as the Silver Horse, Blue Peter and James Bond remains, with the old names etched into the entryways of each building. SAW was involved in the restorative process of the façade of the buildings that line the street, as well as constructing the stage that bridges the two sides of the street. The façades are produced using solid timber which has been hand-painted, resulting in a modern and cosmopolitan look.

The luxury retail outlet Sarto, located next to Portomaso in St Julian’s, features a custom-made V***e Clicquot Champagne Rack produced by SAW. The rack is approximately 8 metres in width and height and is composed of solid oak. The raw materials were processed and cut within the SAW factory, then assembled manually in a grid-like pattern to hold bottles of champagne.

Beefbar Malta on the Beach is an upscale restaurant and pool bar, one of its locations is in St Paul's Bay. SAW was responsible for furnishing and sourcing materials for the project. The fit-out included the use of high-quality and durable materials, as well as rattan-cladded soffits for a unique touch. SAW also developed fitted seating and weather-resistant external canopies.

The renowned Hyatt Regency brand opened its first hotel on the Maltese islands in 2020. SAW was responsible for furnishing the hotel’s 151 rooms, as well as producing doors and fire doors to be used throughout the hotel.

Indoor and outdoor furniture for the pool bar, spa area, meeting rooms, and reception was also entrusted to SAW as part of the project. The main feature of the reception area, which greets guests upon arrival, is the curved timber desk finished with a copper effect. The brand is known for promoting productivity and relaxation, two traits that are highlighted through its signature design.
