What a World of Fashion show in Rome this was 🤩

Il 30 giugno inizia la stagione estiva della moda a Roma World of Fashion - ROME - XXVII Edizione. L’EVENTO MODA DELLA CAPITALE, ideato e diretto da Nino Graziano Luca.

Whether for their aesthetic beauty or for their practical use, artisanal products have been an integral part of our daily lives since time immemorial, becoming deeply rooted in our local culture, heritage, and traditions throughout the centuries.

As part of its role to raise awareness and enhance the appreciation of local crafts, thereby contributing to the revival, preservation, and long-term sustainability of artisan skills in the Maltese islands, the Malta Crafts Foundation organises the Premju Ġieħ l-Artiġjanat Malti.

One can visit between 31 May 2024 - 30 June 2024.

The Malta Crafts Foundation, in collaboration with the Golden Glitch and with the support of the Arts Council, the Valletta Cultural Agency, and Spazju Kreattiv, is organising designMT – Malta’s premier design expo, a showcase of creativity where tradition meets innovation.

The first edition of designMT Expo will take place across various locations in Valletta from September 30th to October 6th, 2024, and will feature a diverse collection of contemporary design pieces that highlight the perfect blend of functionality and style. Each item will be carefully selected for its relevance to both modern living and cultural significance, showcasing how design continues to shape our everyday experiences.

Designers of all types—whether solo designers or an artist, part of a design studio, an artisan creating unique pieces or someone working in industrial design are being invited to showcase their work at the designMT Expo.

Happening this June in Milan! Jewellery Design Workshop and a networking opportunity with jewellery designers.

If you haven’t seen it yet, allow us to show you Charles & Ron “Handle with Care” Autumn 2024/ Winter 2025 collection which was exclusively showcased yesterday at the Malta Aviation Museum!

In response to this contemporary lifestyle, Atelier JEAN CLAUDE FARRUGIA proudly presents its latest collection, a sartorial ode to the concept of la dolce vita, seamlessly blending elegance, versatility, and the allure of the Eternal City.

Well done Charles & Ron for yesterday’s Verdala Palace Fashion Show 2023!

In the magical and historic setting of Verdala Castle, designers Charles & Ron presented their Summer 2023 fashion show to a large audience of invited guests. Money raised from the event went to the President's Community Chest Fund.

The illuminated gardens and Palace provided the perfect backdrop for their opulent, flowing gowns many featuring Charles & Ron's signature prints.
Feathered dresses and full length gowns appeared to float on a light evening breeze as the models walked beneath a star lit sky.

Intricate bands of fabric were overlayed to form structured bodices above soft flowing skirts.
Extravagant ruffles were a strong feature of the women's collection.

Menswear saw bold colour choices from bright yellow to soft aquamarine to vibrant orange and quieter navy blues and black, the latter with Charles & Ron's distinctive prints. Menswear encompassed both comfort, casual wear and silk formal suits .

The wedding dress which closed the show was so beautiful with the softest layers of pearly coloured fabrics taken off the shoulders, to flow behind the model conjuring images of a Swan Lake ballet scene.

It was a wonderful evening indeed!

FASHION UNLEASHED - part of Malta International Arts Festival - was staged in the magnificent Gran Salon, National Museum of Archaeology, Valletta on June 17th.

The fashion and movement production was presented by the students of MCast Institute for the Creative Arts, Advanced Diploma in Fashion and Retail in collaboration with the Advanced Diploma in Performing Arts.

The movement based performance presented three fashion collections entitled 'CHAOTIC PAIN' 'LIMBO' and 'OUTBURST' interspersed by live music interludes on drums by William Smith who is currently taking the Masters programme in jazz drum at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. He has played in many prestigious concert halls around the world including the Berliner Philharmoniker, Muzikverein and Carnegie Hall.

CHAOTIC PAIN was a beautiful mix of soft femininity and strength that hides the pain of past years. An opportunity for students to embrace their inner power and beauty and break away from traditional fashion. It projected women's confidence and power even if attained through pain

LIMBO revolves around the idea of being stuck in limbo, a state of uncertainty and entrapment. The collections monotone colour palette, primarily black, accentuated with grey ruching showing the female hourglass shape both in a sophisticated and secure look.

OUTBURST a surreal collection signifying release and explosion and triumph over pain. The collection drew inspiration from the costumes of Elsa Schiaparelli. The simple iclusion of a floral bouquet was the signature piece in the collection.

Dorianne Mamo, President and Penny Apap Brown, Academic Director of The Chamber of Fashion Malta Foundation were guests of LUKE AZZOPARDI at MAVENRY at The Point

The inclusion of the traditional elements of haute couture are evident in Luke’s collection. Feathers, beads, pearls are carefully selected to reflect light as the wearer moves and meticulously hand-sewn into the finest fabrics by masters of these crafts. Luke commissioned this labour-intensive handwork from India where they specialise in handmade embroidery and beading.

When acquiring a gown from Luke's collection, you possess a masterpiece to love, wear and hand down as an heirloom to the next generation.

Michelle Vella reached back into the late medieval and 19th century periods to create a formal gown with a cream damask and a regal green fabric trimmed with silk fringing. She will add elaborate sleeves favoured in that period.

Ilona Maquette used a rich purple fabric and applied different sized flowers to the fabric and a larger scaled floral decoration at the waist.

Jake Xerri cleverly frayed his cream fabric to achieve two effects using the same fabric flat and fluffy choosing two influences Egyptian and 1930's.
