These visually impaired persons are truly inspiringโฆ Never doubt us: We are more capable than you will ever know. Each of you, as an individual, must pick your own goals. Listen to others, but do not become a blind follower.
Meet Randy RB Brown , our blind trainer for the Visually Impaired in GRF Rose Hill. Randy has travelled all the way from Jamaica to Mauritius to share his knowledge and amazing capabilities with the local Visual Impaired community. As an entirely independent individual, Randy's blindness has never limited him to achieve his goals in life. Father of little Randeesha, aged 20 months, Randy focuses on demonstrating that disability is not a barrier. Contact us on 5434 3003 to meet Randy or contact him by email on [email protected] #VisuallyImpairedLife #disabilityadvocate #motivation
Meet our hearing Impaired students of the GRF Employability program being currently trained for their future careers wishing you all a Happy International Sign Language Day Let us celebrate the deaf culture and all members of its community during the DEAF awareness week especially today the 23th September, dedicated as the International Sign Languages Day. With this year's theme: 'Sign Language Unite Us', GRF would like to highlight and honor all organizations that support hearing impaired individuals and encourage inclusion. As most advocates of the hearing impaired would point out : โthere is no inclusion without accessibility.โ So on this special day we would like to offer some basic suggestions on how to be inclusive of those living with deafness and hearing loss. 1. Just ask Deaf people are individuals just like everyone else. They may have distinct communication preferences. When starting a conversation with someone who is deaf or hard of hearing, ask them how they prefer to communicate. Then, try to meet their request. Some deaf or hard of hearing individuals may prefer lipreading; some may wish to use writing; others may prefer transcription apps or other communication methods. 2. Get their attention Wave your hand, gently tap them on the shoulder or ask someone who has their gaze to point to you to let the deaf or hard of hearing person know that you wish to communicate with them. 3. Donโt yell Though you may mean well, yelling at a person who is deaf or hard of hearing will not help them to understand you. It will only appear disrespectful. 4. Maintain eye contact Regardless of whether the deaf or hard of hearing person is accompanied by an interpreter, looked directly at the person, maintaining eye contact at all times. Do not talk to the interpreter, even if the deaf person is looking at the interpreter while youโre speaking. Likewise, always face the deaf or hard of hearing person when you are speaking to them. That way it is possible f

As the world marks The International Day of Sign Languages, GRF Employability and Christopher, our Sign Language trainer would like you to join us in celebrating this amazing language. The theme for this year's celebration is 'Sign Language Unite Us'. The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities recognizes and promotes the use of sign languages as any other official languages used around the world. This year will mark the fifth such celebration which seeks to encourage easy access to sign language and services such as quality education among the community thus our motivation in offering Introduction to Sign Languages sessions for individuals as well as companies and organizations. Here we have our amazing hearing impaired students sharing their experience at GRF employability. Hearing impaired individuals are full of potential to do all kinds of different jobs. Do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to have more information on Sign Languages and our diverse services for hearing Impaired persons.
