RIO Germination set

Complementary feed for pet birds. Germinated seeds and grains are a perfect alternative to seeds in a milky-wax stage, which make up the diet of the birds in natural environment. In comparison with a regular seed mixture, germinated seeds are full of enzymes, vitamins and minerals, which can help to prevent the effects of malnutrition.

Preparation guide
*Remove the net from the plastic
container and rinse the seeds
thoroughly under warm running
water. Then put the net back in the
plastic container and pour water into
it so that it completely covers the
seeds. Don’t be afraid to pour a little
more water: seeds will absorb some
of the water when swelling. Leave the
seeds at room temperature for 8-12
hours so they can soften and swell.
*Remove the net with the swollen
seeds from the plastic container and drain the remaining water. Rinse the seeds thoroughly under warm running water and then put the net back in the container (without water). Loosely cover the container with the cap (to prevent the top layer from drying) and place it in warm place for 8-12 hours.
*Repeat the procedure described in paragraph 2 daily for 3-5 days until the seeds germinate. The optimal length of the seedlings – 1-4 mm.

Feeding guide
*Offer RIO germinated seeds as a complementary food for birds.
*Feeding norm: no more than 50% of main feed daily norm. The seeds can be given either by itself or mixed with the other daily food (eggfood, fruits etc.).
*Rinse and dry the germinated seeds before offering them to the bird.
*Germinated seeds can be stored in the refrigerator in a closed container for no more than 48 hours. But they should be removed from the refrigerator in advance and kept at room temperature for a while before offering them to the bird.
*It is recommended to leave the germinated seeds in the bird cage for no more than 4 hours

RIO Gourmet food for budgies and small birds

Complementary food for pet birds. This is a sophisticated, rich feed which contains a whole bunch of delicious and nutritious ingredients. Easily digestible proteins, healthy fats and fatty acids contained in whole eggs, dry insects and gammarus help to keep the bird’s body in top shape. Fruit and berries (pineapple, papaya, rowan and juniper berries) contribute to a varied diet, while yeast extract boosts the immune system defences. The feed also contains added delicious and fragrant coriander seeds.

Instructions for preparation
1. Use a clean bowl to mix the feed with warm water (35-37°C) in accordance with the age of the bird as directed on the feeding chart. It is advisable to boil the water before usage in order to guarantee safety or to use bottled water.
2. Mix until smooth and allow to settle for 1-2 minutes. Then stir again to avoid separation.
Do not use a microwave oven! Microwaving can create “hot spots” in the feed and lead to accidental burns in the crop.
3. Test the temperature of the feed (35-37°C).
4. Feed the nestling until the crop is nicely rounded and full. Do not overfeed to avoid regurgitation! The baby bird should be fed every 3-4 hours during the day, but only after its crop is empty or nearly empty.
5. The feed should be prepared fresh before every meal!
