Concludiamo la stagione con la Coral Restoration Week 🪸che ha visto protagonisti i ragazzi di ! 🎓

È stata una settimana emozionante, divertente e formativa, in cui i ragazzi hanno potuto toccare con mano cosa significa lavorare per la tutela dell’ambiente e del reef corallino. 🪸🐠

Pulizia della spiaggia, snorkeling con identificazione degli organismi marini, immersioni sulle nursery dei coralli, pulizia dei fondali, lezioni di biologia marina, documentari e tante altre attività hanno animato questa intensissima settimana!🐟🦐🐙🐋

I ragazzi hanno assorbito tutte le informazioni con grande curiosità e interesse, dandoci fiducia che le nuove generazioni agiranno sempre più nell’interesse dell’ambiente e nella salvaguardia del nostro pianeta. 🌍

Salutiamo con affetto i ragazzi e auguriamo loro il meglio per la fine di quest’anno scolastico, sicuri che porteranno con loro il ricordo di questa esperienza.

Vi aspettiamo ancora per scoprire nuovi segreti sui coralli insieme alla nostra biologa e a tutto lo staff di e ! 🏝️

Our little corals need some special attention from us, especially during this season, with a lot of algae going around, covering all the underwater structures.

We are so happy seeing our corals growing health and strong!

We are currently monitoring the status of and the growth of the corals we transplanted on metal structure, just on our house reef.

While we keep an eye on them and we collect data, we are ready to start a new cycle, as the nursery are empty and waiting for new fragments.

It will take about 6 months before the new fragments will be ready to be transplanted and we will keep you posted.

Siamo molto contenti di vedere come i nostri coralli crescano forti e in salute!
Stiamo attualmente monitorando la crescita e lo stato di salute dei coralli che sono stati trapiantati su strutture di metallo, proprio sulla nostra House Reef.

Mentre continuiamo a tenerli d’occhio, è arrivato il momento di iniziare un altro ciclo, poiché ora le nursery sono vuote e sono in attesa di nuovi frammenti.
Ci vorranno circa sei mesi perché i frammenti siano pronti per essere trapiantati, ma vi terremo informati!

The last three months have undoubtedly been the most difficult and risky for the success of the project.

With the arrival of the wet season, monsoons and violent tropical storms hit the island. To make the situation worse, these last few months have been among the hottest on record. In July 2023 the global average ocean surface temperatures touched nearly 21°C, the highest value ever recorded since 1991. 🌡️

It was a great and unexpected surprise to see that our facilities not only made it through the period, but that despite some small losses, colonies grew to double in size compared to last year. 🪸🐠

In September we will finally begin the first round of coral transplantation, focusing our efforts on the most suffering areas of the barrier!

hard pays off! 👨‍🔧Here are the conditions of some nurseries a few months ago and today.

After a complete re-planning and re-setting of the structures, our coral garden currently has over 500 fragments that will be ready for transplanting in the coming months.

Our gardens | Coral Restoration P The rack nursery is 3.5 m long by 1.5 wide, with 8 rows capable of accommodating a dozen small corals. it is located at 4m depth, easily visible from the surface. This nursery can house the most diverse corals from acropora to pocilloporas.
