The Centre was established in the late 1960s with the aim of providing professional development courses to working people through evening classes.
The Continuing Education Centre is a centre of excellence at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) which offers continuing education programmes at the Certificate and Diploma levels. Over the years, the Centre has experienced a significant increase in student numbers forcing it to introduce weekday and weekend classes. The Centre is situated at the MUBAS's main campus in B

The Minister of Education Hon. Madalitso Kambauwa-Wirima M.P. presided over the launch of the Institute Of Continuing Education (ICE) on 31st January, 2024 under the theme, Continuing Education: Key to Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Development.
In her Speech, the minister highlighted that, "Education is the key that opens the door to a brighter future."
