Happy happiest birthday Luis!
Happy Howard underwater!
Gracias Asociados Náuticos!
Wow! We've been around longer than the Nautical Association. Thank you for this kind message!
On this day in 1980, a young couple opened the very first dive shop in Cancun. Since then we've had a lot of smiles, many, many happy students, and extremely loyal clients who have been with us for 44 years. There's been laughter, a few tears, and a large number of beers. We sincerely thank our clients for their support.
Today is the day!
Coming Soon! A new website with beautiful photos, lots of useful information, links that work and online booking. We'd really appreciate it if you could leave a comment below letting us know if you're looking forward to seeing our new website. TIA.
The struggle is real. Who's with me on this?
Happy divers, happy crew. Thank you for diving with us!
Join us every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday for two tank diving in the beautiful cenotes. Transportation included to and from most resorts in Cancun, along with all the equipment, wetsuit, water and a light lunch. Price: $210 USD.
As divers we know that we shouldn't touch the coral, but what about kneeling or laying on the sand? Is that okay? Here are some photos of a few of the hundreds of creatures that make the ocean bed their homes. None of the marine life in these photos has the ability to bury themselves in the sand to avoid getting crushed by a fin, a knee or any other human body part.
We love it when our clients are happy!
Thank you Kristie and Steve for diving with us. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Our 44th anniversary is right around the corner. Tell us which anniversary logo you like best in the comments.
Cancun survived hurricane Beryl relatively unscathed. There are some branches and trees down, the normal flooded streets and some residents without power. The good news is there is no tropical cyclone formation expected in the next 7 days.
Creature Feature Friday: Clownfish. We all fell in love with clownfish with the release of "Finding Nemo". Did you know there are over 30 different species of clownfish? They can range in size from 2" - 6" and come in a wide variety of colors and patterns.
Clownfish live in anemones in the Indian and Pacific oceans, as well as the Red Sea. In Fiji there is a reef site named "Circus Circus" due to the large numbers and species of clownfish living in the anemones.
In anticipation of Beryl, we moved our 4 boats to safe harbor in a better protected area in the lagoon. Four of our dedicated crew will spend the night on Scuba III and hopefully be able to move them back to the dive center tomorrow.
Happy 4th of July to all of our friends and family in the USA!
Recently, we welcomed our newest dive instructor to the Scuba Cancun family! Meet Bea (Beatrice) from the UK, but she joined us via her last job in Costa Rica. Be has been diving for 11 years (she started as a kid) and has been diving in Egypt, Belize, Thailand and Columbia.
She's very easy to identify, she's the only female on our dive staff besides Annie, and she has that wonderful British accent! Be sure to say "hello" when you see her.
Cancun reefs are teeming with life! We are waiting to take you to our coral playgrounds. Book here: https://scubacancun.com.mx/product/2-tank-dive/
Happy Canada Day to all our Canadian friends and family!
We were ready to build an ark last week as Mother Nature unleashed Tropical Storm Alberto on us. Unfortunately, Alberto was slow moving and at one point dumped 6.5" of rain in 10 hours.
As the nearby lagoons overflowed, streets flooded and wildlife looked for places to take refuge. Crocodiles (mostly small), two jaguars and lots of fish were spotted in the urban areas of Cancun.
Good news! The sun is out today, the streets are clear and we are ready to take you diving! Book your dives here: https://scubacancun.com.mx/tour-type/diving/for-certified-divers/

Dive Cancun. Dive the Cenotes. Dive Cozumel. You can do it all with Scuba Cancun.
Undercurrents, or rip currents, are powerful, narrow channels of water flowing away from the beach, cutting through waves like a river. Rip currents can quickly pull even the strongest swimmers out to deeper waters, posing a significant risk to beachgoers unaware of their presence.
Look out the balcony of your hotel before you head to the beach to see if you can spot a rip current. To ensure your safety and that of your family, swim near the lifeguard stand. Children should never be in the ocean without and adult
If you get caught in a rip, you'll easily be able to see that people a few feet away from you on either side aren't struggling, but you feel like you're being pulled into the ocean. Don't panic and don't try to swim back to shore. Start swimming parallel to the shore toward the person closest to you that isn't struggling. It may be difficult at first, but fortunately rip currents usually aren't very wide (80') and you should be able to reach safety.

Another beautiful day diving the reefs in Cancun.
Medical advice for the day: Say goodbye to work stress. Say hello to the ocean instead.
Creature Feature Friday - the Common Octopus. Considered the most intelligent of all invertebrates, the common octopus is found in the tropical and temperate waters of the world’s oceans, including right here in Cancun. They can grow to about 4.3 feet in length and weigh up to 22 pounds, although averages are much smaller. They prey on crabs, crayfish, and mollusks, and will sometimes use their ink to disorient their victims before attacking.
Summer is just around the corner. Now is the perfect time to plan your trip to become a Certified Open Water diver. You can take the knowledge portion of the course online and then do your pool training and ocean dives at Scuba Cancun. Send us a message to learn more.
Sounds about right...
Thank you for diving with us! Come back soon!
